Not always, like this story did not make a blip in the news. It seems to have been a lovers quarrel that went too far, so not a hate crime. https://www.fox19.com/2025/09/03/suspected-shooter-mt-washington-triple-homicide-dies-police-say/
This story has made me think of the Portland train attack. Which, if you don't recall, was when two men had stepped in to stop a racist guy from harassing and threatening two teenage girls. Only to be stabbed and killed by the guy. In the aftermath of that attack, I remember reading a piece featuring remarks from the woman who had tried to help one of the dying good Samaritans, held his hand, talked to him... I believe it was Taliesin Myrddin Namkai-Meche. Anyway, whilst it is probably just a minor consolation, at least his family knows he was not alone in his final moments and someone was showing him some kindness. Iryna seems to have lost consciousness before the first person came to check on her, so her family does not even have that meager bit of solace.
All right, I'm going to take Auria's new sig to heart. He's right. The posts and responses here are just... sad. If you don't have something substantive to say, stay out of this thread.
This is obviously an extreme situation, but our legal system is not well equiped to deal with people with mental disorders. This is an issue that can be worked on, if we ever find real leadership.
Just popped back in to see if there is any substance ANYWHERE in this thread... huh. Nope. I'll go away now...
I read an article a few days ago saying that Miller and others in the Mango "braintrust" were really angry that mainstream media hadn't jumped on this story to make it a big deal. Lo and behold, later that day, that thread pops up.
In the few minutes I could stand Faux & Fiends, Donnie said "we need to fast track some trials like Gina. (Accordion hands) Like this guy, we have on video stabbing the girl. It'll take years for this to go to trial. Have to move things along faster" He also said she was scared from the minute she stepped on the train because there were Blah people on it.
And then the thread starter got bored with this thread and started another one to say that the Kirk shooting was leftist violence out of control. Ohh . . .
I assumed because of his name that he is from Brazil. No, he didn't have to be poor, but I am equating him with the typical American redneck, aside from him probably not being truly Third Reich White.
Great signature. I don’t see that thread anymore either, since threads started by ignored content don’t appear. That one is on page two right now. Val locked it, I think.
That's a reference I've never heard of ever before. Favelas, shanty towns I assume you do know, when used in a derogatory manner, is always a reference to poverty specially when used by foreigners. So congrats, you come off as saying the equivalent of telling a black person "why don't you get out of your ghetto". And the fact that you reference "poor" in your explanation, tells me you know about favelas. As far as assumptions go, the only thing you got right is that he is from Brazil. Brazilian "red-necks" don't live in favelas. They live in smaller cities. Favelas are urban communities typically in the outskirts of big cities. They have nothing to do with Brazilian red-necks.
I guess someone was murdered? How is this particular murder any different than the others that occur in this country on a daily basis? Why does this one deserve its own thread?
A white woman killed by a black man on public transportation. That’s the wing nut trifecta for an online rager. Of course, they didn’t care until after video was released.
This murder is legit an example of a policy failure. The murderer had serious mental health issues that we, as a society, as a polity, completely failed to deal with. It goes without saying that the fascists’ solution to the policy failure is fascistic. But any normal, non online person who reads about this case will think, that’s ********ed up. Fascists are using that hook to push their fascists agenda. Democrats are so shell shocked right now that we don’t have a coherent response to the fascists. But we as a society deal very, very poorly with mental illness, and Democrats at some point need to have that coherent response. This is one of those moments where I think we Americans have a lot to learn from countries that have shadow governments for the out party.
You're filling in more blanks than I care about reading at the moment. If this consumes you to such a degree, PM me and I'll work up enough interest to reply in a day or so. For someone who comes from a nation with all those different castes, it's much more insulting that I don't really differentiate between him and a dark(er) Brasilian. He may be just a bit swarthy like Bolsonaro (see what I did there? Jair desperately wants to be known as White, never mind that he's going to be known as Biscuit for the next 27 years, lol)
