Long overdue! Like a COVID-19 vaccine, the new Other Teams Thread is here to remind you of that world outside your front door. We might not be filling stadiums again yet, but if you're on BigSoccer you're at your computer anyway, trying to find a decent stream of a Hungarian Third Division relegation battle match. The thread title is an old inside joke for you ol' timers of this forum.
Fvck LPB. Now that that’s out of the way... FT: Elche 1-1 LPB A small bit of joy. FT: Atletico 1-0 Getafe Suarez goal. FT: Granada 2-1 Valencia
Suarez with a nice header goal to win 3 points for Atletico. Now they are on the top of table, 2 more points than RM with two games in hand. Better without Suarez they said. Liverpool top of PL but only 3 poinst over Man Utd and playing 1 more game. Crazy to think Man Utd could challenge for the tittle.
More goals than Dembrittle, Griezmerde and Fartwaite combined. Heck throw in Messi and its only 12-9 (excl penals)
Crazy --- Man Utd virtually in first place right now. Equal on points with Liverpool but a game in hand (against Fulham, I believe). But still don't see Utd winning it or even being that close in the end. Man City OTOH have a reprieve. It took them only 12 games to drop more points than Liverpool did all last season, but now City basically have a do-over for the season.
Ramos wants to leave Real lmfao. Perez wants him to take a pay cut. According to rumours, he said PSG is willing to offer him more and that Messi will be playing. Sorry, but Pochettino doesn’t have the balls to handle Ramos, Messi, Neymar and Mbappe.
You know this already but Boca host Santos in the other Semifinal in 45 minutes. Also Atleti lost 0-1 on Copa today to UD Cornella. Honestly this will make them harder to overcome in La Liga. Even more so if they lose to Chelsea, though the Blues are a bit off form right now.
You say that like its a bad thing. Better than LPB winning. Honestly, Atleti can look pretty poor at times. Makes me wonder if LPB won’t blow past them in the table during the second half of the season. (I know this wasn’t their A team but it was a decent A minus/B+ side and also almost dropped points to ten man Alaves last w/e).
So Aston Villa's entire squad is out due to COVID! Somehow they are still holding a pretty strong Liverpool XI to 1-1 at the half. Nobody on the field for Aston Villa has a jersey number below 37. It's like watching a Serie A or Turkish team. Villa are fielding seven players from their U23 and 4 from their U18 team.
Stat of the day: Only 3 Bundesliga teams have conceded more goals than Bayern this season. But they’re invincible. And Neuer >>>>>>>> ter Stegen.
Helmond Cup update: Bayern Munich 5:2 Mainz Borussia Mönchengladbach 3:2 Bayern Munich Next: Saturday 16 January Bundesliga, 16. Spieltag Stuttgart v Borussia Mönchengladbach
Thing is Bayern can outscore their opponents by a wide margin to win their games even if they do tend to concede. Plus they can play like that in Bundesliga. They’re a team that should be feared no doubt. People were joking about their high line, but their “attack, attack, attack” strategy seems to be working so far. They have very good luck too. The team that’s actually overrated IMO is Liverpool. I don’t see them win the PL or CL. Pep is winning the PL this year.
Crazy goal for Real Sociedad! Diego Carlos chipped his own keeper from 39 yards out. Brilliant finish, wrong net. Also, Atlético match called off due to snow. LPB could go top.
Agree with you. With Bayern, they have no problem to win their domestic league. No way they play like that in UCL. For our match vs PSG, it would be miracle if our defense can keep up with Neymar, Mbappe, Di Maria. Of course with a Messi in form then everything is possible but im afraid of another 0-4 loss like in 2017.
You have to factor that PSG is an ultimate CL chocker just like City. Last season they just had better luck with their run. Didnt we once turned 4 goals deficit against them? I forgot which season though.
But conceding alot of goals is a recent thing for Bayern. They didn’t do it last season. Although they did look really vulnerable against Lyon in CL. Not sure “overrated “ is the way to describe Liverpool. They have some key injuries and are suffering from that. They earned their “rating” imo. Going more than a year losing just one fairly meaningless match. Made Bayern look like an amateur team during that stretch too.
LPB fans raving about how good Haaland is and how he's better than Mbappe. I hope for our sake their management believes the same.
