What? Wasn't there already an Iron Chef America? I hope this one on the Food Network is better than the other one they had. Anyway, I don't why they have Bobby Flay, he's a terrible cook. Who will win??
lol... I was coming here to start this thread. Who's gonna win? Tough to tell at this point with 30 minutes left in the show. I can't imagine Sakai's raw trout ice cream is going to be that appetizing, but he is an Iron Chef. Of course, I'm rooting for Bobby "Raise the Roof" Fley and it'll be a huge victory for him if he's able to win it over a guy like Sakai. So since they remade Kitchen Stadium and proclaimed these three as the American Iron Chefs, are they making a series out of this? Maybe once or twice a week? I'm love Iron Chef, but this blows it away having more "americanized" foods and americans speaking english doing everything. The production quality is better as well. BTW, who is the American Chairman? I know I've seen him somewhere else.
WTF? Battering an entire fish? My taste buds aren't the most uhhh.... sophisticated, but that's just crazy. At least Fley isn't getting electricuted everytime he touched the pots like the first time he battled Murimoto (sp?).
1:00 left, time to predict. I think it's just my bias because I recognize Fley's dish a lot more than Sakai's, so I think he's gonna take it. I predict.... by 3 points (I'd assume the scoring system is the same as the original). Edit: scoring is different. 10 - taste 5 - Design 5 - Originality Prediction: Fley - 8 - 4 - 5 Sakai - 9 - 5 - 4
From the Foodnetwork.com site- Mark Dacascos Actor and martial artist Mark Dacascos makes his Food Network debut on Iron Chef America. Prior to hosting the show, Mark has had numerous television, film, and theatrical appearances. His credits include roles in the television series "The Crow: Stairway to Heaven," the movie "Double Dragon" (1994), and "Brotherhood of the Wolf" (2001). Before being discovered in San Francisco’s Chinatown, Mark was a European martial arts champion. Introduced to martial arts by his parents, Mark trained with teachers in China and Taiwan.
Ah, that's it. I knew I've seen him somewhere before. I just watched Brotherhood of the Wolf a month or two ago. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001092/ He's Hawaiian by the way. So anyone know if they are doing more of these? Seems like an expensive 4 hours if these shows are all you use it for. I read they filmed them back in Feb. in LA, so it sounds like it this is it for a while. Maybe just testing it out for a possible series down the road?
Well, that was fun. I was a little shocked that there was an American sweep, and that might have been a product of an all-american judging panel who is more accustomed to Flay, Batali, and Puck's tastes as opposed to the Japanese cuisine. While I couldn't taste it, I thought Flay over Sakai was the biggest stretch of the three American victories. Definately hoping for more of these.
