So we all pretty much agree that our biggest need that could be found in the draft was central defender. Sigi chose Andy Iro over the more highly-touted Julius James and the lower-rated Pat Phelan and Eric Brunner. So the question is this: You're sitting there with your choice of the top central defenders, who would you choose for this team?

Cast you vote now so when we're eliminated from the playoffs next September you can use this as evidence that you are smarter than Sigi.

Note to a mod: I wanted to make the poll public so we could see who voted what. Can you change it now?

I'll vote using the mindless lemming approach.

Very appropriate, considering that's exactly how Sigi drafts.

I voted for Brunner because based on seeing OSU's tournament run, he looked better than Iro or Phelan. I've never seen James play and only saw Iro and Phelan once. All that said, it's hard to turn down a local guy who seems to fit the team's needs to a T.

I didn't vote for Iro simply based on our draft history. :(

If it's possible, I couldn't figure out how to do it.

I think all 4 of those guys are pretty close to each other. I honestly can't say I definitely would have picked one over another, and I certainly didn't expect all 4 to be available at #6.

I probably would have gone for Brunner, since I'm most familiar with him as a player. I can understand why people might be a little concerned with how paper-thin the guy is, tho.

Unfortunately we'd have the close this one and start a new thread, we dont have the power to make it a public poll - I've asked that of the higher powers before.

Hoping my preseason optimism doesn't come back to haunt me, I'll stand by the choice. Iro's size will bode well for our back line.
