Lee Carsley continues his good form this season scoring for Everton. I saw the Spurs game yesterday and Robbie missed a couple of chances to win it. Carr looked quite good throughout. I didn't see it but believe O'Shea had another excellent game for Man Utd on saturday. It seems we have quite a few players on form right now.
O'Shea I was at Old Trafford on Saturday and O'Shea yet again played out of his skin and I believe he picked up the champagne for his man of the match performance.........Giggs was getting a lot of stick from the Stretford end......even heard a start of a chant going....'Giggs...r u watching O'Shea, are you watching O' Shea, r u watching O'Shea'...... Need I say more!! - his pace and ability to beat people might be wasted in central defence for ireland!! closey
Richie Partridge is making waves on loan at Coventry as well. And honourable mention to Alan Maybury for scoring his first ever career goal at the weekend
More news on Partridge - set up the first goal and scored the second (beating three men before scoring) in Coventry's 2-0 victory today. If he doesn't get a chance when he goes back to Liverpool I'll be amazed. At least he's getting noticed now.....I'm not sure, but I think he's out of contract in the summer. Robbie Keane also scored for Tottenham today, and Paul Butler for Wolves, but Nicky Colgan got sent off for Hibs.
richie partridge a lot of liverpool supporters are finally beginning to sit up and take notice. even gary mcallister has admitted that 'the secret's out!' his goal against reading, although i have yet to see it, is being touted as a potential goal of the season. looks like liverpool aren't going to sell him now and he might get a run in the first team next season. liverpool have a serious 'width' problem at the minute so with a bit of luck........ what wing does he play (please let it be the right!) can you imagine him and duff ripping defences to shreads - my mouth is beginning to water in a homer simpson style
His goal was breath taking, recived the ball 15 yards (at least) in his own half, ran the pitch in some style (He's got more pace then Duff or Keane and that says alot) and without even thinking of passing reaches the outside of the box and curls a fantastic shot into the top corner. Good night. It was beautiful, and it's not his first spectacular goal of the season. I saw him live about a week ago, he didn't score but was good, he just ran past people at will, one of the nutmegs he pulled off to beat four (yes four) men in one move was sweet. The guy is clearly good enough for Pool and will soon claim a place in our squad. And Frankk, he plays either wing, he's naturally right footed but is very very two footed (His crossing on his left peg is unbeliveble) so he can go either wing, with him, Duff and Stevie Reid wingers is not something we need worry about again. Id heard the hype about him about a year ago and I thought he had missed the boat but now I think he'll get 50 caps, at least, and if Liverpool sell him he'll goto another premiership club and not Coventry I reckon, and he'll come back and bite them on the ass big time.
Don't forget Thomas Butler....or even Wes Houlihan, who got called up to the last squad. And of course Ronnie O'Brien Amazing how this season's going for him now though - it should have happened a few years ago. I've heard a fair few Liverpool supporters calling in the media for Houllier to recall him and play him in the team to help save their season.....and on the pace issue, in Gary Mac's own words, he's "explosive - able to match Michael Owen over short distances" - which could come in very handy. Anyone know if he can strike a deadball?
Butlers managed to pick up every niggling injury under the sun, and usually gets another right after he's recovered. He hasn't had a bad injury yet, just alot of small ones, but it's actually a fact that he hasn't even trained under Wilko yet because he hasn't been fit, talk about unlucky. He'll be knocking on the door when he comes back, I've been VERY impressed with his preformances for our U21s and for the mackems when he was fit, he's a good all rounder, very good striker of a ball (Crossing, passing, shooting, even though he hasn't scored he's hit the woodwork twice in his short career, it's all very impressive) aswell as his dribbling, the competition for places will be fierce. At a wild guess, I would say from Butlers style of play, he'd be a very good striker of a deadball, generally people with his passing and crossing ability are good free kickers, it's all a relatively similar technique.
