If I were manager I would play something like this:

    Given
    Kelly-Dunne-McShane-Kilbane
    Carsley-O'Shea
    Ireland-Keane-Reid
    Doyle

The Slovaks have big tough midfielders so I would put Carsley and O'Shea who are good battlers against them. This will give the trio of Keane, Ireland and Reid more freedom to create and go forward. LB is a problem but I would stick Kilbane in there.

But I think Stan will play something along the lines of:

    Given
    O'Shea-Dunne-McShane-Kelly
    Ireland-Carsley-Kilbane-Hunt
    Keane-Doyle

With Finnan out, you'll probably see Kilbane in there, maybe even as a direct replacement.

Serious doubts about the match - pitch pretty close to water logged; Staunton cancelled training after 10 minutes.

Good luck for these important games (normally, only a win counts for you against Slovakia)! Your chances should have increased even more after Vittek's injury...

I don't know what to say to this, on one hand, you have to worry about getting sick, on the other, my team practiced in the rain with the pitch and balls soggy as hell and we don't have a game until Tuesday, surely if we can do it a team with a huge qualifier can too...of course we all may be sick tomorrow

I(German) am really cheering for Ireland in this match. I want to see that team at the EC.

Yeah, I go along with this and wish you the best of luck! Éirinn go Brách.

An away win would be a surprise IMO, as the Slovaks will be absolutely determined to fight for their last chance. On the other hand, that might put a lot of pressure on them. If your boys could somehow manage to get full points out of this game and a draw in Prague, or even better the other way round, the fixture list looks slightly better for you than for the Czechs I'd say.

    Not feeling as confident today...

Anyway, pitch passed an inspection so the match will be played.

To be fair to him Kelly has looked fairly solid for Birmingham so far this season albeit playing in a fairly week team. Can't see him starting tonight.

    I'd imagine we'll see

    Given

    O'Shea-----Dunne-----McShane-----Kilbane

    McGeady-----Carsley-----Ireland-----Hunt

    Keane-----Doyle

Was talking to someone who was at the match stadium yesterday. Apparently the four corners are covered in inches of water

Starting XI is out for tomorrow:

Given, Kelly, Dunne, McShane, O'Shea, McGeady, Carsley, Reid, Kilbane, Doyle, Keane.

Only Reid in for Ireland but at least the side has a slightly more balanced look to it. I think we will be able to hold possession a bit better tomorrow, but of course the Czechs are substantially better than the Slovaks.

I've got a good feeling about tomorrow's match....
It's too bad Hunt is overlooked yet again...
Let's hope McGeady and Reid can revisit their form against he Danes...
    C'mon Ireland!!
