It's a friendly, does anyone know of any way to keep track of this game, aside from waiting for ages before a few sites have the result/reports up? Kick off in 15 minutes, at 3:30, Starting 11 for the game is...

Stack (Arsenal), Kelly (Tottenham), Cryan (Sheffield Utd), Thompson (Nottingham Forest), Capper (Sunderland); Butler (Sunderland), Miller (Celtic), Thornton (Sunderland), Reid (Nottingham Forest), O’Flynn (Cork City), Barrett (Coventry).

Match is being held at Cork Citys ground, Turners Cross.

Should be a good crowd in Cork. Nice to see Kelly get a match. Is this his first U-21 cap?

I've tried them all, soccer central, a2zsoccer, bbc, football365, rte, fai. Can't think of anywhere else to track the game.

Yeah, it is. It's also Colin Cryan and Stephen Capper's debut for the U21 side also.

I think it's O'Flynns aswell, definitely one of his first anyway, right on front of his home crowd too, should be a big day for him.

And can anyone else not get the RTE Radio 1 stream to work?

O'Flynn is a very prolific striker. He's leading the Eircom League goal scorer charts, considering he has, what, 7 more goals already in this seasosn EL then a player currently in the senior team, and just scored there. I've not seen him play yet, but he has to be considered a prospect.

Nice to see O'Flynn score in Cork.

fcbayernfan181, any German sites providing updates on this game?

How come with all the success that the under teams, the U21's haven't done so well in recent years, they have had some really good players. The team they have now has great potential.

Without wanting to put the entire blame on the shoulders of one man, Don Givens isn't exactly a world class manager, he's proven that with the U21s and his thankfully brief, one match spell as senior manager. We could do with a better manager there, as our U21 side is very very talented. Sorry if some of these players have become to old, I don't get to see the U21s very much at all, but this would be the kind of team I'd pick.

    Fc - Noel Hunt (Dunfermiline)
    Fc - Barrett/O'Flynn (Coventry/Cork)
Ml - Andy Reid (Nott'm Forest)
    Mr - Thomas Butler (Sunderland)
    Mc - Sean Thornton (Sunderland)
    Mc - Miller (Celtic)
    Dl - Tireney (Man U)
    Dr - Brennen/Kelly/Rossiter (Newcastle/Spurs/Sunderland))
Dc - John Thompson (Nott'm Forest)
    Dc - Goodwin/Byne (Stockport/Sunderland)
Gk - Graham Stack (Arsenal) or WBAs Murphy if he's left out of the seniors.

That's a very talented squad which should be doing better then the results it's getting under Givens. Not good enough to win tournaments, as the best players usually end up in the senior pannel, but good enough to do better then they're doing.

Is that the Hitzelsperger that plays for Aston Villa? didn't know he was under-21!

Yeah, I think it is, cracking player he is, and, as he's shown today, great scorer from mid field.

Yeah, he is. He actually is 21 but since he was 20 on January 1st he qualifies for U21.

    Match Report from Aertel:

Rep. of Ireland U21 captain Liam Miller gave his side a deserved draw against Germany with an 86th minute equaliser in the international friendly in Turner's Cross today.

Ireland opened the scoring through O'Flynn on the 20th minute but were rocked by two goals in two minutes from Auer and Hitzelsperger.

But the home side kept pressing and they got the equaliser they deserved after O'Flynn found space on the right inside the area and held the ball up perfectly before crossing it across for Liam Miller to slide home.

Another moral victory for Givens? Too similar to Irish football before Charlton for my liking, where every result was a moral victory. (Anybody ever figure out what, exactly, constitutes a moral victory ayway?)

I think it requires that we go at least one goal behind and then not lose.....or alternatively, any remotely good result against a non-Third World country. It was a decent enough German side though, with the likes of Hitzelsperger and Balitsch (who played for Leverkusen in this season's Champions League). Nice to see O'Flynn and Miller scoring in front of their home crowd as well.
