    Well, they've been named in the squad.

    On a positive note, it appears that Ferguson and Wenger will only have a player each with a really unfortunate and completely untimely injury which will clear up in time for the next reserve team game or whatever.

    Was it Roque Junior who played a couple matches for Leeds this season?

    CAP decided to spare some of the main domestic players for their Libertadores commitments, like Rivaldo, Renato and Diego. Rivaldo is still a starter in Parreira's plans.

    Has the Irish roster been released yet? I hope your top guns like Duff and Keane will be there as well.

    Drop by the Brazil forum to share your impressions of this game, lads.

    Cheers!

    And that would make the starting line-up something like:

    Dida;
    Cafu, Roque Júnior, Lúcio, Roberto Carlos;
    Emerson (Juninho Pernambucano), Gilberto Silva, Zé Roberto;
    Ronaldinho Gaúcho, Kaká, Ronaldinho

    Not yet, at a guess it'll be around friday this week. I see no reason why our full team wont be named, weather they'll all be let play by their clubs is another matter though :)

    Lads ordering tickets for this is a bit of a nightmare, at least if you go the ticketmaster route. They kept telling me there were no more tickets left but if you keep on trying to order them it seems you'll get on eventually. I knew they couldn't sell out in a half an hour.

    Yeah, but I dont like Parreiras rosters and I didnt like this time roster. Players like Emerson, Ze Roberto, Beletti, Kleberson, Roque Junior, Lucio and Juninho Paulista couldnt be in the brazilian SELEÇÃO. Whi dont call Mancini, instead of the ridiculous Beletti? What about the defenders? Roque junior and Lucio suck the ballz! I want to believe it happened only because Parreira said some players who were playing the Libertadores Cup wouldnt be called this time because of the competition. Names like Renato, Rivaldo, Alex (the santos and cruzeiro ones) Edu Dracena and Rogeio Ceni couldnt be out of Brazil Team.

    Duff will not play tomorrow for Chelsea, and therefore must be a major doubt for the Brazil tie

    Outside chance Miller? If his injury isn't genuine and is just an excuse not to have to play for Celtic before his move to Man U?

    Otherwise, Macken maybe? Can't think of too many obvious people. Reid should win his second though.

    Jon Douglas was in soccernet.com's team of the week. As was Robbie Keane.

    Richard Dunne is a doubt after being taken off injured during Man City's match with Birmingham.

    And I was under the impression that Macken won't have his papers in time for the Brazil match

    Have you got a link for that? I can't find it on their site.

    Macken's not eligible; he didn't have an Irish passport at the time he was capped underage for England, thus making him ineligible.

    Great to see we actually now have a second option on the bench with 25yr old Paddy Kenny. Hopefully Stack from Arsenal will come into the ranks as well soon.

    No Lee Trundle...would have been good fun if he got in!

    Hopefully Duff plays against Pompey and then gets a 1st half at least against the Brazilians.

    Republic of Ireland squad: Given (Newcastle), Kenny (Sheffield United), Murphy (West Brom); Carr (Tottenham), Cunningham (Birmingham), Doherty (Tottenham), Dunne (Manchester City), Finnan (Liverpool), Harte (Leeds), O'Brien (Newcastle), O'Shea (Manchester United); Carsley (Everton), Delap (Southampton), Holland (Charlton), Kavanagh (Cardiff), Kilbane (Everton), McAteer (Sunderland), Reid (Nottingham Forest); Connolly (West Ham), Duff (Chelsea), Keane (Tottenham), Lee (Cardiff), Morrison (Birmingham).

    Here's what I'd like to see next week in my 4-2-3-1 formation:

    Kenny
    Carr-Cunningham-O'Brien-O'Shea
    Carsley-Holland
    Delap-Duff-Reid
    Keane

    Disappointing Millers injured, but great to see Kenny in.

    Keane Morrison

    Duff Delap Holland Reid

    Finnan Cunningham ????? Carr

    Given

    ???? Being one of O'Shea, O'Brien, Dunne or Doherty. If it's not O'shea, he'll battle for one of the fullback roles.

    Give Andy Reid a free role on his wrong side, sort of like the way Arsenal play their widemen, I think he'll cause real problems in that position.

    I'm suprised at Lee's inclusion... then again there isn't really anyone else.

    Duff and Dunne are the only injury worries, I believe.

    After thinking about it some more, I think Kerr will field a pretty conservative starting XI, and make changed at half time.
    Let's say:
    Given
    Carr Cunningham Dunne O'Shea
    Duff Carsley Holland Kilbane
    Morrison Keane

    With Andy Reid playing the entire 2nd half, and Delap, Connolly, Finnan, O'Brien and mabye Kenny getting a half or at least most of one. I also expect Harte, McAteer and Kavanagh to play at some point.

    If Duff is injured, McAteer will start on the right with Kilbane on the left, and if Dunne is injured O'Brien will start and Doherty will come on.
