15" Duff is on fire! Connoly chips it for Keane... Great save by the Albanian goalie! The match is a bit more even now.

 

30" still 1-1. Ireland are begining to dominate again.

 

Is anyone else getting the RTE stream to work? I had it going from 10 minutes before kickoff right up to the Albanian goal.

Yeah, giving up a goal three seconds in would be just a bit embarassing....

 

1/2 time, 1-1. Ireland have been the better side though.

65" Albania seem happy with 1-1, they're just sitting back trying to attack on the counter.

 

I gave up on it ... listening to Scotland-Germany instead.

Who scored first for the irish? I listened online 106fm and they said Duff. On here it's being reported Keane? Keane is my favorite player so I hope your right. Let me know.

 

I have to say, 4-3-3 was unimpressive. Both full backs didn't know what to do and that was what caused the goal, looks like 4-4-2 for the Georgia match, unfortunitely without Duff, if the hamstring is remotely bad he is not going to recover in a full days

Doherty deserves his start alongside Keane, played very well today and set up the goal (And what a pass from Carr!). Hopefully Reid is able to start, straight swap him and Duff, have him right mid and go 4-4-2 with Doherty up front and that should do it, as Georgia, imo, aren't as good as the VERY impressive Albania, espically that number 3, if he plays like that every week he could get his game for anyone.

Irelands best player was Keane, who is matureing beyond his years, he was a real inspiration today, espically that run down the entire left flank on his own, killing about 2 minutes. Brilliant, took his goal with class aswell.

Well Albania should have had a penalty for a Carr handball in the box. Plus Carr was lucky to be on the field after that first yellow card as he clearly commited several fouls that would have warranted a 2nd yellow and his ejection from the game.

Also.... did anyone else see Robbie Keane push the linesman????
Towards the end of the 2nd hald, Carr is about to take a corner and he is bickering with the linesman who seems to be being a bit of a pedantic wanker and insisting the ball should be placed in a certain spot..... Robbie comes over all pissed off and pushed the linesman........ was I dreaming, or did anyone else see this?

I almost soiled my trousers as I was sure he was going to get a red card for that.

 

It's been brought to my attention in other boards that in fact Robbie Keane was responsible for the irish's first goal. I had to LISTEN to the game on 106FM and they called the goal for duff.

Can't see how they made that mistake, they don't look like each other and Duff wasn't near the action when the goal was scored. Only reason I can see is it was a left footed shot. As for the Carr penalty, you don't get them when the shot is 1 yard away, and blasted, how could he move his arms away!? Was lucky not to do for constant fouling though. As for the Robbie Keane thing, if it happend I missed it and there was no replays, so I think you might have seen it wrong. Keane was by far our best player today.

 

Duff was brilliant, but overall we were dissapointing, i don't think the formation worked. Albania are a good team and we can be happy to have got the the three points, but we will need to improve on this.
