RTE give score updates @ http://www.rte.ie/aertel/p221.htm

Incidentally, what's with the television style fonts on the RTE site recently? And can anyone else not get the audio streams to work?

Thanks for the info. But with Switzerland loosing to Slovenia, the odds just got a lot longer that they qualify. Good luck to Ireland, beat those darn Brits!

Apparantly Ireland were very unlucky to lose. We play the Swiss today, but England have won the group by beating Slovenia 3-0, and thus have won the group, so it doesn't really matter. The match is at Richmond Park.

They've won the group? Don't they still have to play Switzerland?

    That's correct, sorry.
But now: Ireland 3-2 Switzerland. Now I think England have won the group:

    England - 6
    Ireland - 3
    Slovenia - 3
    Switzerland - 0.

England will go through because they've beaten both Ireland and Slovenia, regardless of the Swiss result.

That's the way I heard it as well - apparently we dominated the game up until they scored from a set piece with 15 minutes left. John Fitzgerald is getting good reviews in defence, as is Glen Whelan in midfield and Quigley up front (MotM). Good to see Willo Flood settling in at this level - he scored the winner in the game today.

I must say I don't like that rule for this very reason, it should go to goal difference.

    Slovenia 0-2 Rep. of Ireland
    England 1-0 Switzerland

    Final Standings:
    1-England 9pts.
    2-Rep. of Ireland 6pts.
    3-Slovenia 3pts.
    4-Switzerland 0pts.

I think they should use goal difference also.

Don't call us Brits, please. We're competing as England.

IMO the goal difference should be the decider on equal points, then the results between the teams.
