To win the group we will probably have to win our last four matches, a tall order. However if we can win our next two games against Albania and Georgia at home it gives us a great chance. Given the terrible start we had I think most Irish fans would be happy to finish second in the group.
Ireland will win the group if they win all their matches and Switzerland draw or lose one of their other matches that isn't against Ireland. A tall order indeed.
We have to win the next 2 home games & then it will be much clearer, hopefully we will have 10 points in 3 weeks time...We will look at the need to beat Russia & the Swiss then. I think we can do it, we will have Reid back in Midfield & the position Duff played in against Norway looked very promising.
I think we'll do it because I don't think the Swiss or the Russians are that far apart ability wise, so they'll take points off each other, and neither is exceptionaly strong either, I still think we're the best team in the group we just started off terribley.
Ireland's chances 4 games to go and 3 at home. Ireland has a great opportunity to make it to Euro 2004.
Ireland does have a tough job ahead, but we have to win the home games at least. Hopefully Switzerland and Russia lose to us and to the other teams, and then it looks like we got a shot at it.
