According to Bri. Gen. Brooks, Coalition Force (U.S. 1st Marine Division and Air Strike likely) destroyed Baghdad Division of Republican Guard near Al Kut, Iraq. Marine secured Tigris bridge and capture few town and Al Kut <----unconfirmed. I was impress with Brooks' report. Saddam Hussein's major embarrasment (sp?) for Baghdad Division's wipe out. GlobalSecurity.org say Republican Guard are best trained and best equip, best weapon and elite force. 5th Baghdad Division (Mechanized) of Rep Guard Republican Guard Some people are confuse there's two different elite force organization as Rep Guard and Special Rep Guard (SRG). Special Republican Guard Uday Saddam's most fear assassination unit aka death squad. Saddam's Martyrs ("Men of Sacrifice") Fedayeen Saddam FOX News Channel is reporting 3rd Infantry Division advanced 18 miles to Baghdad? I thought Rep Guard fired mutilion with chemical weapon at 3rd ID after they already enter red tag line. What's happen?
FNC is reporting Medina Division of Rep Guard destroyed but later FNC change headline say Medina Division of Rep Guard hangs by a thread. Oh man! Thread would be Fedayeen? 2nd Medina Division (Armored)
How does it feel to be an independent, Schoenstein So Saddam has a Republican Guard. And a Special Republican Guard. Where is his Double Secret Republican Guard? There must be a little-known codicil in the Iraqi constitution. Hey guys, I just talked to the guys in the Vietcong House. All our answers on the Guerrilla Warfare test were wrong!
Re: How does it feel to be an independent, Schoenstein That was Fedayeen (Death Squad). Also Republican Guard move south from Baghdad. Reuters is reporting US Army 3rd Infantry Division just 6 miles from Baghdad. I worry about all of our troops at stake did in Somalia.
Re: Re: Iraqi's Rep Guard Division destroyed In other words, don't worry about whether they are correct, just dismiss them out of hand simply because the tenor of their world view doesn't fit MY world view. Good.
Re: Re: Re: Iraqi's Rep Guard Division destroyed Oh sweet jesus. Now you're just being silly. If you can honestly say, with a straight face, that Fox isn't guilty of gross spin, then I feel for you. If you can honestly say that Ollie North's gap-toothed boosterism in any way resembles journalism, then I feel for you. If you can watch an hour of Fox news and tell me that they aren't the most rah rah war network around, then you have serious problems. You know, the sad thing is, yesterday Fox was the first of the three cable news networks to report the Blackhawk and F-18 down stories. But, because of their irresponsible cheerleading, I was forced to wait for confirmation before I believed it. They have that little credibility -- even when the news the report is bad for the US/Coalition. They consistently present only one view, and that just isn't credible journalism. While we're at it, please tell me what my "worldview" is.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Iraqi's Rep Guard Division destroyed When you drip with contempt, contempt is what you get.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Iraqi's Rep Guard Division destroyed Fox spins to the right, CNN spins to the left (I never watch MSNBC so I don't know abotu them). What's your point?
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Iraqi's Rep Guard Division destroyed CNN does not spin to the left on the subject of this war. http://slate.msn.com/id/2081057/ To those who have tarred him as pro-war and pro-administration, CNN's Aaron Brown replied: "I think there is some truth in it."
I'll Take a Stab Starbucks Liberal? You'd probably be at home here, in the people republic of San Francisco, today there's a protest outside of the Fox News office, for crimes against free speech no doubt.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Iraqi's Rep Guard Division destroyed Taking an eye-for-an-eye approach to, of all things, message-board discourse? Don't be so knee-jerk. Please provide examples of my "contempt."
Maybe it's my congenital pessimism, but is anyone else concerned that, from reports, we're really not seeing many dead bodies? That means either that the RG all went home (good news) or they retreated into Baghdad to wage guerilla warfare (bad.)
Hopefully their bodies are incinerated, or they just up and went home (unlikely). I read a report somewhere (don't recall where) that said the retreat routes had been cut-off(?).
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Iraqi's Rep Guard Division destroyed You are probably correct on the subject of the war, but in general, they do spin to the left.
