Re: We're in trouble, again! BAGHDAD – Iraq could face action from FIFA after its Olympic committee dissolved the Iraqi Football Association. The Iraqi Olympic body said Monday it disbanded the association because of alleged financial irregularities and the repeated delaying of internal elections. FIFA, soccer's world governing body, says the committee has no right to intervene in the affairs of the association. FIFA says any government involvement could lead to the suspension of Iraq's teams, but says it is waiting for more information before taking action. http://ph.news.yahoo.com/ap/20091116/tsp-soc-iraq-federation-6e81073.html
Re: We're in trouble, again! GENEVA (AFP) - World football's governing body FIFA on Tuesday warned Iraq that it would consider suspending the country's football association unless Iraqi football chiefs were reinstated within 72 hours. FIFA said in a statement that it had learnt that "the Iraqi Olympic Committee announced the dissolution of the governing board of the IFA (Iraqi Football Association)." "If the decision to dissolute IFA is not cancelled withing 72 hours (starting 16 November), and if the IFA Headquarters are not returned to the IFA within the same deadline, FIFA will have no choice but to refer the issue to the FIFA Emergency Committee in order to decide on a possible IFA suspension," it added. World football's governing body has expressed growing concern in recent weeks about possible political interference in Iraqi football.
Re: We're in trouble, again! Absolute farce, the whole thing is run by incompetent imbeciles. Anyways this is the BBC article on it: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/internationals/8364449.stm
Re: We're in trouble, again! They won't take their decision back, Iraq will likely face another ban very soon.
Re: We're in trouble, again! FIFA's deadline came to an end today and the IFA wasn't reinstalled. Now the federation was actually disbanded by the Olympic comitee, not the government itself, not sure whether that will have any impact on the decision.
Re: We're in trouble, again! ZURICH (AP)—FIFA is preparing to suspend Iraq from world football after it missed a deadline to restore the national federation. FIFA said Friday that the Iraqi Olympic committee’s time limit to reinstate the disbanded football federation had expired overnight. Football’s world governing body says the matter has been referred to the FIFA Emergency Committee, which can order a suspension. FIFA rules require full independence of national associations from political interference. FIFA has said Monday’s decision to disband Iraq’s federation for alleged financial and administrative irregularities was “incomprehensible.” No timetable has been set for a ruling from the emergency panel, which is chaired by FIFA president Sepp Blatter.
Iraqi Football Association suspended If this is not solved within time, then: Arbil and Najaf won't be able to play at the AFC Cup 2010 Yemen will take our place at the U-16 finals Oman will take our place at the U-19 finals Qatar will take our place at the Futsal finals Iraq won't be able to participate at any other tournament
noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo all our hard work amd why the hell did the security forces seized controll of IFA headquarter?
KUALA LUMPUR: The AFC Executive Committee has thrown its support behind the Iraq Football Association and has condemned interference in its affairs by outside forces. Following on from the Executive Committee meeting last week, members unanimously stood behind President Hussain Saeed and other elected members of the IFA. “I am happy that Executive Committee members are all in support of the Iraq Football Association and condemn the actions of the Iraq Olympic Committee in interfering with their independence,” said AFC President Mohamed Bin Hammam. “This not only goes against the FIFA and AFC statutes but against the spirit of the game. The only governors of football in the country that we recognise is the Iraq Football Association.” The IFA was suspended by FIFA late November because of government interference after the Iraq Olympic Committee (IOC) seized the offices of the football governing body. Iraq teams and officials are unable to take part in international football functions until FIFA removes the suspension. AFC has urged the government-backed IOC to return control of football to the IFA. http://www.the-afc.com/en/inside-afc/676-afc-news/26215-afc-exco-members-stand-behind-iraq-fa
CAPE TOWN:The Iraq Football Association (IFA) has been banned from ‘all football activity’ after the FIFA Executive Committee ratified the suspension of the IFA imposed because of government interference. The FIFA ExCo met in Cape Town, South Africa where they upheld a decision taken by the FIFA Emergency Committee on November 20 to suspend the IFA after the Iraq Olympic Committee seized the offices of the football governing body. Until FIFA removes the suspension, Iraq teams and officials are unable to take part in international football functions. Both FIFA and AFC have issued statements saying they recognise only the IFA as the legitimate governors of football in the country. Last week, the AFC Executive Committee threw its support behind the IFA and condemned the actions of the Iraq Olympic Committee. http://www.the-afc.com/en/news/26241-fifa-uphold-iraq-suspension
No. An attempt at conciliation recently failed because both sides are insisting on their respective positions.
It's not going to get resolved at this late stage. AFC will no doubt be on their holidays over the new year, so don't expect any reply from them ater 30th December until after the deadline!
Well, we all knew that they wouldn't agree on anything before Jan 3, so no suprises at all. Both clubs have announced plans to file a lawsuit against the Olympic Commitee, but generally have accepted their removal from the AFC Cup.
They just announced on Aliraqia sport, the issue between the Iraqi Football Association & the Olympic Committee is resolved and the ban should be lifted soon. The official statement will be published later tonight with what was agreed and what is to be implemented
And that was only the beginning, soon all our NT's from the U14 to the senior squad will be thrown out of all Asian competitions. Congratulations people, you have ruined Iraqi football, be proud of it.
This is a sad sad day for our football. Tragic circumstances, and this will affect the game to the very grassroots. This corruption must stop.
when i thought long time ago that its going well with iraq football, my father told me that one day i have to tell my kids that they also need to tell their kids, that iraqi football will always stay like this
