this year we cancelled Big matches
    we cancelled matches with....
    1. Brazil (cancelled by our side)
    2. Mexico (cancelled by the Mexican side)
    3. Spain (cancelled by our side)
    4. Tunisia (unknown reasons)

    ehm our Coach is coward
Okay…. we have another friendly matches this year

    1. Seville (UEFA Cup Champions)
    2. Turkey
    3. UAE
    4. South Korea (Preparing for China)

Turkey match and UAE not sure yet
But our match against South Korea 100% sure
Seville want to play with our NT but our FA still studying it
while turkey match news came by Hussain Saeed (our FA President) after Jordan match
he said we will play with Turkey and Seville

now I hope our Coach don't cancel this matches

    Akram Salman = Coward Clown

  5. I can't believe we TURNED DOWN BRAZIL. I mean come on, they invited us, and Akram turns them down like that!? Unbelievable. Both Brazil & Spain were once in a lifetime experiences. Brazil would have brought their stars too. :(

Akram says he's doing this for sim3at il 3iraq...he says we don't want to get embarassed. When will this coach understand we need real practice, and not stupid friendlies with Syria, Jordan, KSA...

Believe me, Iraq performs well against strong opposition...it would end with a respectable score & performance.

when is this S.Korea match scheduled for? Although i love to see S.Korea v. Iraq i dont find it in the listings for scheduled matches in the KFA site.

as for not playing Brazil and Spain for fear of being embarrassed or just simply losing....i have to agree, its a stupendously stupid reason. Playing those team will have benefited Iraq a lot.

out of interest was the match before it was cancelled scheduled to be held in Iraq or Brazil and Spain?

At least Iraq are smart enough to cancel matches so they don't get thrashed 5-0 or more, Saudis should take a leaf out of their book.

unlikely Iraq would have received a thrashing like that. Watch Iraq in the coming months and re-evaluate your opinion of them, now that Austrailia is in the AFC you have a reason to be interested in Iraqi football.

even if it had been a loss with a big margin like 4-0, 5-0 a good and capable manager would still be able to extract some valuable lessons from it without unduly effecting team moral.

i.e. Hiddink lined up strong opposition for Korea like

at home just a couple of weeks before the WC02
    Korea 1 - 1 England
    Korea 2 - 3 France
    Korea 4 - 1 Scotland

and away matches a couple of months b4 the WC
    Spain 0 - 2 Korea
    Germany 0 - 0 Korea

you have to keep playing good teams to improve. no point being a big fish in a small pond.

perhaps Akram felt he was not a capable manager. but no team should shy away from difficult friendlies if they can get them. unfortunately Korea doesnt seem to be setting up that kind of quality friendlies these days either, but im sure they wont cancel them if it has been set up already.

well this news from the AFC Oficcial site

but they didn't said we will play South Korea, but our IFA President said that.

maybe you are right, but this is not the 1st time we play with Big teams
we played with Mexico in the world cup 86, we lose 0-1, I know it's a different generations, but what the problem if we give it try again? and we played Tunisia before we draw as I remember.

Brazil and Spain maybe it's not the time to play with them,
and for the benefited thing, I think the other associations will pay everything

    both in their countries

Atleast saudis are no coward and they will want to play Brazil even though none of their players plays in europe or abroad.

Apart from Japan, korea and Iran who basically have all their main players in europe, Every team in asia should try to play against european teams and not be cowards even though none of their players play abroad.

You think your coach was coward. Lets think in the coach's perspective.

" I got a bunch of low leveled skilled players. would i like to play with brazil who has the likes of ronaldinho, kaka, the fat guy..........."

Your coach was being practical and he didnt want Iraq to lose by 15-0.

I Didn't know your coach said that. but our coach said

" I got the most talented players in the Gulf. we draw Saudi Arabia with our B team 2-2, if Saudi Arabia want to play with Brazil, we will play with them with the 1st team..........."

  15. You really shouldn't talk.

  16. Well, the coach has resigned after death threats. :( How is our team supposed to perform well under these circumstances.
