http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=574&e=4&u=/nm/iraq_iran_killing_dc It seems he was an intended target and not simply a random killing. Not a very wise move by the insurgents, killing a diplomat of the one nation who is most likely on your side.of course.. the conspiracy theorists will immediatly say the US whacked him to stur up animosity amongst the groups. I guess we'll have to wait and see what the Iranian clerics have to say.
crap. (Note to self: When you have to wait for what the clerics say, you may not be winning hearts and minds.)
There's tons of bad blood between Iran and Iraq. Sure, Iran would be more likely to side with Iraq on a lot of stuff instead of the US, but there's not much love between those two.
They are upset with countries that invaded Iraq. They are upset with countires that didn't stop the invasion of Iraq. Little ground here.
Even the mullah's in Iran are afraid to travel alone at night in Tehran in religious garb. As much as it it popular on BS to hope for the Shiites to organize a religious revolt, it is very, very unlikely. The Shiites in Iraq have learned a lesson from Iran. For instance, Sadr, at best, had a few thousand followers and probably had about a few dozen that were willing to stand and die for him.
