Denmark has been chosen as one of Iran's 3 opponnents for friendlies before the 2nd stage of World Cup Qualifying. Iran is certain of qualification.

Do you know how accurate this is, on Iran's side, this is 100% news
I respect Denmark for that last game we played in Carling Cup when Denmark missed a penalty on purpose, because the Irani player thought it was halftime and picked up the ball. Denmark won 1-0 I believe
It should be a very entertaining match, and I wisht hey play in Azadi, Tehran so they can receive a warm welcome from our fans like the Germans did, because theresalot of persians in Denmark

    What score do you predict?

    Cheers

Wrong Iran won that match 1-0 not denmark. Iran and Denmark also played each other in copenhagen(sp?) in 2000 in which the game ended in a 0-0 draw..

I am kind of suprised that the religious leaders of Iran keep allowing their national team to play western nations. Seems that the large crowds that come to these games as well as the huge nation wide interest in Iran could eventually help to undermine the mullahs...just a thought

Having travelled extensively throughout Iran and the Middle East I just wondered about the point I made...should be a very well attended, very competitive game. I for one hope Iran qualifies for the WC in 2006....

.....and topples the mullahs in the process.....

    ....sorry, just couldn't resist....

Well the only country Iran would never play is Israel. Your post is pure sh1t.
Since when do Iranians have anything against Denmark, Germans, Irish. All of whom we have played in recent years. Our coach is Croatian, so do you think the Mullahs will kill him or something.

Quite right, it was captain Morten Wieghorst (Brøndby) who missed the penalty on purpose ... (see link) I belive the Danish NT was later awarded with a fairplay prize of some kind....

You have a very good chance of qualification to the next round, but it is not certain yet. If Jordan win their last match and you guys draw or lose you are out. Also if Jordan wins by 6 more goals than you do, they will advance instead of you. Both situations are fairly unlikely, but there is still that chance Iran can get knocked out, and if you know football... anything can happen when there are still games to be played!

Anyways, this game should be very good. I think Denmark will win 2-1.

Wrong again. We play Laos, who we beat 7-0 in Laos. We play in tehran in front of 100000. Also if we win 1-0 and Jordan win 100-0, we still qualify, because we have an aggregate advantage of 2-1.

We are playing Laos. Me and you could score on them.

Like the turkish guy said It's head to head rules so even if jordan beats qatar 1000-0 and iran only beats laos with 1 goal iran will still make it since they beat jordan 2-0 compared to jordan's 1-0 victory. Jordan's coach has already admitted it's over and there is no doubt in anyone's mind that it is. Iran is not korea they don't tie or lose to teams like laos. Iran beat laos away 7-0 i think, they might even break the world record with them at home! Iran was in fact undefeated at home for about 4 decades until recently. I watched iran-germany and iran only played the first half because they had an important match just 2 days later so the coach pulled out the players and told the ones on the field not to play and make themselves tired. If iran played its game they probably would have beaten the germans so if this is to be held in iran I predict a 2-0 victory for iran since they can play this time without worrying. If the game is held in denmark I predict a 1-1 tie. Iran has always played great in easter Europe beating ukrain and slovenia away and also tying denmark at their own home. I think the outcome will be the same as last time they faced each other in a neutral zone 1-0 iran. Hope it will be a good game. Looking forward to it.

you missed the point....Iran under the mad mullahs will never play Israel...but how long will the mad mullahs last ?

I just think that hundreds of thousands of iranians celebrating a great win in soccer...taking to the streets...one thing leads to another and before you know it the rebellion is on...and the mad mullahs are gone...you gotta be in favor of that ?

Two things wrong with your prediction...

    1) Denmark is a surely a better team than Germany at the moment..

    2) Denmark always have a better "away" statistics than home stats. Denmark have only lost 2 official "away" games since the WC-02 finals... 0-2 in a friendly against Spain, and then the loss at the Euro-04 quarter finals (If that actually counts as a real away game)... Other than that Denmark have beaten teams like Scotland 1-0, Egypt 4-1, Romania 5-2, England 3-2, Turkey 1-0, Poland 5-1, not to forget beating the unbeatable Albania (2-0 in the WCQ) who had not lost a home game in 3 years ..

    1) what makes you think that? Germany tied brazil in a game they dominated and should have won and beat iran @ home something that only 1 or 2 teams have ever done. Germany under jurgen klinsman has been undefeated so far. They are at their best form in the recent years. Denmark had a good showing in euro's group stage before they got manhandeled in the hands of the czechs in the next round. Czech lost to japan, japan tied iran, iran lost to germany... err wait a sec didn't germany and czech play in that same tournement? :p czechs had a harder time beating germany than they did denmark and at the time germany was not as good as they are now. I don't know maybe denmark is better than germany i can't really comment since i haven't seen them in action during their games in WCQ's but their results have been pretty good so far however so has germany's and I think tying brazil and beating iran at home are more impressive results than denmark had gotten, then again germany's games were friendlies and iran and brazil don't take friendlies very serious as i have pointed out how iran only played a half and brazil probably wasn't trying as hard as they would in an official game where as denmark's games were not friendlies. Anyways who cares this is about iran-denmark lets not get germany involved.

    2) yea those are pretty impressive results. Iran is the best home team in asia and one of the best in the world. Their away results have also been very good, maybe the best for an asian team. Iran used to be the asian team that got the best results outside asia. Korea for example always did great at home against good teams and very bad away. These days tho i think japan has proved they can get good results outside asia as well, their 1-0 win over czechs at prague shows that. Anywho It should be a good game, good luck to both teams i like to see both of them in the next world cup.

    Roar!

    1) Germany under Klinsmann has played only three games : a 3 - 1 win in over-rated Austria, we could ve done that without huge difficulty. Then 1 - 1 at home to Brasil. Okay, so there they played well, and in Iran they didn t play very well at all, but they won, which to me, means that we will win. You can t compare teams like you did with the Czechs and Japan. Czechs beat the Dutch, and Greece beat the czechs, so in conclusion, Greece is much better than Holland? No, thinking like that is bull**********. When the Czechs played Germany, they played with their reserves because they were already guaranteed to win the group, so you can t compare.

ya'll are comparing competetive matches with friendly matches which isn't going to be accurate because of squads used. Czechs had a hard time beating Germany in EURO because they were playing their B-team, they already qualified for the next round, so players like Nedved, Koller and Baros were all not starting. Czech's still won though, of course Baros came off the bench and saved them but still :D

Anyways, back to the game, Iran are great at home but are usually playing against other Asian teams, I see a tie, I support Iran and all I just see a tie. Go Iran.

The Czechs used totally different tactics to beat Denmark at the Euro finals than they did against Germany. In the quarterfinal against Denmark they played extremly defencive, with some fast and very clinical counterattacking... If you look at the stats then the Czechs had 13 shots on goal with 5 on target, giving them 3 goals, Denmark 11 shots on goal, If you look at possession then Denmark had 58%, the Czechs 42% and if you look passes/Passes completed then it was 607/486 to Denmark and 398/302 to the Czechs...

And then, comparing competetive matches with friendly matches is useless. I could just as well claim that it's much more impressive that Denmark beat Romania 5-2 away (in the Euro qualification) than Germany getting a draw vs. Brazil in a friendly... and didnt Germany lose (was it 5-1 ?) away to Romania in a friendly, by the way ? ;)...

Small mistake, big difference... Ofcause It should say "Didnt used totally different tactics to beat Denmark"...

The point is that they Used their B-squad against Germany, but had to play just as defencive against Denmark in the quarterfinals with their A-squad...

Iran v Denmark would be a tough match and Iranians will welcome Denmark with open arms as they did to Germany. In Azadi I predict a close hard fought win for Iran say 2-1 or 1-0. There is a possibility of a tie or Denmark winning, but infront of 110,000 screaming fans I just see Iran pulling it off. W are not that far off in the rankings from Denmark according to FIFA. Denmark #15 at Iran #20. Should be an interesting and exciting match. Good luck to both teams.

    Yeah, in their dreams!
As it has been proven they couldn't even win against iran at home what makes you think they can do that in tehran? and good away team my ass, I don't know maybe they were once in the past however I do know that tying Georgia away is not good, not good at all.....

Iran's ali daie got named the world's top scorer of 2004, and also became the only man to have scored more than 100 national goals. The denmark game should be a good practice for him to increase his number of goals ;)

should be a good game to watch...... that is off course if you are anything but a danish fan :)

I always find it funny how ppl always underestimate the Danish NT and belive us to be an average European team... As far as I know, Iran has not faced all that many European teams at home the past many years. Ok, so they beat Ireland, but you cant in any way compare Ireland with Denmark.... a few facts :

    1) The results from all the Euro finals since it was made a real tournament in 1980 (top 15) :

Germany : 2 Championships, one 2nd place, 1 Semi final, qualified 7 times
France.. : 2 Championships, 1 Semi final, 1 Quarter final, qualified 5 times
Holland.. : 1 Championship, 3 Semi final, 1 Quarter final, qualified 6 times
Denmark : 1 Championship, 1 Semi final, 1 Quarter final, qualified 6 times
    Greece.. : 1 Championship, qualified 2 times
Czech(R): one 2nd place, one 3rd place, 1 Semi final, qualified 4 times
Portugal : one 2nd place, 2 Semi finals, 1 quarter final, qualified 4 times
Italy.... : one 2nd place, 1 semi final, one 4th place, qualified 5 times
Spain... : one 2nd place, 2 Quarter final, qualified 6 times
Russia (SNG): one 2nd place, qualified 4 times
Belgium : one 2nd place, qualified 3 times
England : 1 Semi final, 1 Quarter final, qualified 6 times
Sweden : 1 semi final, 1 Quarter final, qualified 2 times
Romania : 1 Quarter final, qualified 3 times
Turkey.. : 1 Quarter final, qualified 2 times
Croatia. : 1 Quarter final, qualified 2 times

    2) Denmark is the only team along with Germany who has played at all the Euro finals the past 20 years..

    3) Denmark have not lost a WC qualification home-game in 23 years (since September 1981)

    4) Denmark have not lost a WCQ or Euro qualification away-game the past 7 years (since August 1997) ...

If you still belive Iran will get a fairly easy win at home, then I would say it's you who must be dreaming ;)
