    my prediction:

    i have 2 predictions.

the 1st is a 2-0 win for argentina.

but on the other hand, i have this crazy idea that we might get a 1-1 draw.

The defense was pretty solid but I'm afraid Argentine creativity will break it down, hopefully it won't demotivate the players to the point of letting go of their game and allowing in more goals. I agree a draw would be like winning the World Cup at this point.

After the solid defense against Nigeria i'm starting to get confident for a draw against Argentina. Physically Iran impressed me, they defended with the same intensity until the end. And who knows, a last minute counter attack for Iran ...
But we should play better than this when holding the ball against Argentina. hopefully the players have gathered a lot of confidence.
We have nothing to lose and the brazilian fans will be supporting Iran.

Iran showed me something at the Nigeria game that I had never seen from them before...They played with discipline. For that alone, there is hope for the future, a very well disciplined Iran is a great thing.

A loss by 1 or 2 goals would be a good performance by our boys.

DiMaria is an absolute monster of a player!
Iran has shown that its defense is solid, if they stay disciplined, I doubt the result would be disappointing. This is a chance for Iran's players to catch the attention of scouts, and perhaps Pouladi is well on his way...

did you see how moses was able to get in 2-3 crosses by beating our right back? one of them was very dangerous. if he could do it di maria will too. i am scared of this.

1 point will be perfect for us this game. we cannot realistically go for more. we have 2 options:

    1) play like we did against nigeria and pray that argentina do not even score 1, even with their players who can score in one moment of brilliance against any defense in the world. they already saw our game against nigeria and have made plans on how to break down our defense, and they have the strongest offense on earth to do so. remember that haghighi is still shaky and can gift a goal by acting weak on a cross or free kick.

    2) play defensive, but try to make more passes and have more possession, and have meaningful counterattacks. argentinas offense is amazing but their defense is nothing too special. bosnia outplayed argentina for parts of the match, proving that argentina is not overall an amazing team.

i really cant decide. i think carlos will stick to 1. at this point its simply too late to actually play football. we cant connect passes together.

Anyone/any team who isn't fearful of facing Argentina is delusional. They are a true force to be reckoned with, and your fear is justified.
Carlos will come up with the best chance we have against them, regardless of the outcome.

It will be tough, both for the Argies to break down a well drilled defence having played together for a short period, and for Iran to stifle so many dangerous and creative players.

But all it takes is one set-piece / quick break to make things very interesting! Still, a point would be a miracle!

Draw is a major win for Iran if they can pull it out. What Iran wants to do going head to the final game is a chance to get to knockout stage with a win against bosina Herzegovina. Just a straight win against them and Iran is in. That's what Iran should want. So losing is not the end of Iran. But lose only by difference of one goal. Just like Bosnia Herzegovina did last Sunday. Also hope that the other game in the group today is a straight up draw. And if there is a winner in that game, Iran better hope the margin is one goal on that game as well.

So losing to Argentina on one goal is good, Iran still have a chance. Draw is major victory for Iran. Lose by more than goal, Iran could be out.

Good luck to Iran. I'm pulling for you.

So far, I say Iran is doing superb. I didn't have faith in your team before, but I think it's in the realm of possibility to pull off an upset. Unlikely, but possible. I like andranik.
