American subservience to Israel supersedes all of that.

On this issue, it’s the finest of lines. Like, you need a magnifying glass if not a microscope to see it. Because what all reporting says happened is that we attacked because Israel was going to attack and we knew Iran would fire missiles and such at us, so we joined in. So it sure as hell looks like Israel controlled us, and because of America’s prominence and position, much of the West is going along.

Maybe if posters emphasize Bibi’s role and don’t talk about AIPAC, they can stay on the right side of that antisemitism line. But then, I’ve arguably crossed the line by making the point that having two guys from New York City, the most Jewish city in the world by total numbers, as our legislative leaders, is muting the Democratic response.

Here you have talked about the founding of Israel without mentioning the Holocaust.

Your historical interpretive lens is somethin’ else man. That lens has a mind boggling amount of blind spots. You’re like the night riders in Django Unchained.

As we say down here, bless your heart.

I wonder if Mr. Spock could do a mind meld with Rubio, if Spock would find that Rubio’s relationship to Cuba makes him sympathetic to Iranian-Americans. They’re pretty similar situations by this point in time: Cuba has been communist for almost 70 years and Iran has been a theocracy for almost 50. The people who fled those nations as adults are dead or really old now.

Also the arrow of causation for the marriage of this politician to that sugar momma goes both ways. I doubt Adelson made Rubio change his mind and that’s how he got the money, it’s as much that Adelson chose Rubio BECAUSE of his views on Israel.

My interpretation of these relationships (Thiel-Vance is another one) is that the sugar daddy picks a politician who agrees with him, but then the contributions dictate the limits for the politician going forward. Like, Adelson picked Rubio for a reason, but now, Rubio is trapped. He can’t go against her views very much if at all.

Or maybe I’m talking out of my rear. :D

Tim Miller explained something about the general antiwar zeitgeist that maybe works better in understanding it. It's not so much about Gaza or foreign policy, but a reflection of how the general public is angry with elites.

Miller, who was Jeb Bush's comms director, recounted how in 2015, Trump went off on live TV blaming Bush for 911 and Iraq. This was when he was first pretending to be antiwar. While this was shocking in elite media, Trump correctly realised the average voter was mad with the GOP elites over Iraq, the GFC etc - and one way to exploit it was to 'truth tell' about Iraq because most people already believed that. This was one important way he positioned himself as an outsider who was for the forgotten man (america first) and against the swamp who control DC (jews, billioniares, donors etc)

Elderly Trump, in his meglomania, seems to have thought he can just switch up his lies on this - but he can't because this anti-institutional vibe is structural

Andrew Schulz on war in Iran: "Trump tweeted 'We have unlimited missiles.' Trump only tweets shit like that when shit ain't going well. Like when the economy sucks he's like 'It's the greatest economy that's ever happened in history.'"

Even Rogan is pushing anti-war takes now. He knows where the audience is

Just a note there - the industrialisation of Russia's drone production is domestic in Russia. So that isn't much of a factor

Both Iran and N Korea helped Russia when they needed it most. As in they gave Russia the opportunity to replenish their own stocks.

So yeah as of right now Russia is dependent only on China

Speaking of, while Putin spews a lot BS I believe him when he said Russia offered multiple AA systems and even jets but Iran said no.

The reason I believe them is because Russia offered them as is and Iran wanted tech transfer so there was no deal

And while in the end US/Israeli jets would have still ended joyriding above Tehran the SAMs and Su35s would have inflicted serious damage. Su35 and their AA missiles and S400 (or newest S300) are among the most capable things Russia makes and are on par with better Western stuff

This is a very interesting channel on what's going with shipping. Insightful as far as what is happening in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.

If true, that’s surprisingly rational by Putin and a huge mistake by Iran.

Given how compromised Iran seems to be by Israeli intelligence, not sure why they thought Russia would ever agree to tech transfer.

Poland should obviously jump out on the road to Minsk right now. Russia is pathetically weak

Are you seriously suggesting Poland invade Belarus? To the extent the post-WWII order still exists (it might not), a small power invading another second small power because second's imperial sponsor was weak would remove all doubt that the all the old rules are dead.

i thought they should have done it while Biden was president. Better than waiting for ukraine to be partitioned and eventually absorbed. then they have a huge and undefendable border

A lot depends on how deeply Trump ********s NATO and how much he assists Putin directly.

eg if Ukraine is partitioned on bad terms we can look forward to the next attack within a few years
