The jury didn't and that is what matters.

Normalization is the wrong word. Normalization implies antisemitism has become the standard condition and maybe even the accepted or expected standard condition. That's not the case. What's happened isn't that it is normalized. What's happened is that it's burst out into the open and is spreading. Maybe that's a subtle difference. But it is a difference.

It's like living next to a river. The potential for a flood is there, but it's not normal. But when it floods, you find yourself surrounded by water. That's kind of how I think of this. We all know and knew that antisemitism is out there. We all know and knew it can overflow and flood. But now we're actually experiencing the river flood. And our shoes are getting wet.

The justice system has actually been pretty resilient in these trying times. (Outside of the Supreme Court, and a subset of federal judges like Aileen Cannon.) Federal judges - even judges appointed by Trump - have been criticizing Trump's DOJ repeatedly when they try to bring charges against protestors. Trump's DOJ tried to charge the sandwich thrower with a felony - a grand jury did not go for it. They charged him with a misdemeanor, and a jury acquitted the sandwich thrower after a very short deliberation. The grand jury and the trial jury could see that those charges were obviously ridiculous, that a federal agent wearing body armor really couldn't have suffered harm by some guy throwing a sandwich at him. The system worked.

But for Trump's trial, the judge didn't throw the case out, and a jury considered the evidence and found him guilty of 34 felonies. If the charges were such obvious bullshit, a jury would have seen through it.

I think what I meant by normalization is the rationalization of behavior or views towards Jews. Essentially, it's "Antisemitism is bad, but I get why it's happening now." It shouldn't be happening. It should be fought at every ugly appearance of it.

Iran is not a point where its leadership believes that defeat is inevitable. Will they get there? Who knows. The The iranian people might get there before the leadership.

If this keeps up, we might even see a red hat defection or two. Probably not.

There might have been a time when that could have been possible, but your government royally f'ed that up by killing Khamenei, double tapping that school and not being able to keep your Bible zealots politicians on a leash with their big mouths.

I wouldn't underestimate a civilization that's thousands of years old quite yet. You'd have enough because you're comfortable. They won't because defeat isn't an option...Trump f'ed up again with his terms.

Fight or be erased... they will have to be nuke and I wouldn't put it past you to do it.

Another reason how you know this sh1t is improvised
    • Trump on soaring fuel prices: "Ships must be bold, sail through the Strait of Hormuz—fear nothing!
His own aircraft carriers won't go, yet he's expecting sailors to risk their lives for him and Merica...;)

Are you new to our judicial system? Juries make mistakes all the time as do judges as does the Supreme Court. Trump is awful in a million ways - but there is disagreement about the validity of the 34 convictions and not just along partisan lines.

This is a very sad state of affairs that the new supreme leader has inherited the position from his father.

The Shia tradition is usually against hereditary rulership. They used to hate the Umayyad’s for that reason (amongst others) and I am sure they hated the Shah for that reason (amongst others).

I am pretty certain that if Khamenei elder would not have been killed, and elections were held outside of war, his son would not be leader. As it is, either the israeli-American regime kills him, or the Iranians are stuck long term with a leader in his fifties who they wouldn’t have otherwise had.
