Yes the tank is cheap, but the oil in it represents part of the finite amount Iran has. That oil burning is gone forever, never to be made up.

Iran has warned Azerbaijan after detecting what it believes were Israeli strikes launched from Azerbaijani territory, possibly from a secret Israeli-linked air base previously reported in the media.

Azerbaijan has been rearming and moving forces toward the Iranian border, but its shift to NATO-standard equipment means it relies on Western ammunition supplies, many already strained by demand from Ukraine. Estimates suggest its stockpiles would last only 10–20 days of intense combat.

So a few days ago Rubio said something that wasn't major news but did ignite the imaginations of a certain segment. It was "We're going to unleash Chiang on these people in the next few hours and days". It's a phrase that had meaning to early Cold War right-wingers (eventually being a cute phrase among certain Republicans), and being neither a early Cold Warrior nor a right winger I wasn't familiar. It's a reference to certain sides wanting to re-arm Chiang Kai-shek and allow him to retake the Chinese mainland, something Truman prevented him from doing using persuasion and the 7th Fleet, which is pretty persuasive in its own way.

So Rubio's kind of showing off, but also aligning himself with a 70-year-old mentality and despite this being about Iran a very anti-Communist China one. He's unleashing a no-holds-bared strategy, and making sure China knows the same is in store for them.

But you want to know my take on it? He's sounding a little frustrated and afraid. He might have fooled himself and Trump into thinking this was going to be easy and quick, and it hasn't been so far. So this seems to be saying if the plan doesn't work, do the plan but even harder.

 

I mean, my expectations are low as it is, but holy shit.

Perhaps someone who can only get hard when he thinks of dead citizens he killed should not be in this job? Just a thought.

The initial report was from Israeli news sources which so far have shown they had good sources in IDF.
