Week was a little screwy, but Esteghlal caught up with their postponed matches and now the league is back to normal. Well, at least until the Asian League starts off again...

Something which must not go unmentioned is Sepahans suprising grip at the first spot. Many thought they would just melt away after 3 or 4 weeks but they've been able to maintain their position for 7 weeks! I swear ill faint if they remain #1 until midseason.

Another interesting thing is that there are 5 teams with 11 points, which are only seperated by goal difference. Seems like this season is going to be even closer than the last. Thankfully, there have been some notable improvements to the league which is now in its second year of being professional.

Yah, maybe. If Perspolise loses to Pas (which is definately not out of the question) and Sepahan wins its game in Week 8, they will then have a 2 game lead over the rest of the league. This year is VERY exciting. 5 teams tied with 11 points....dang!

I know very little about Iranian clubs, except for Perspolis and Esteghlal. I think it was Perspolis who played a few games in Canada a few years ago.

Just curious, how many foreign players are in the Iranian league? If any....

There arent very much foreign players. However, the few that are there are really good. But most of the foreign players are from north-central Asia. From places like Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Armenia, and so forth.

One of the most famous foreign players is Armanite Petrossian of Armenia who plays on Sepahan which is a team that has maintained their #1 spot for yet another week (week 9).
