There's an old saying, "'If you have to say you are a lady, you aren't one." The same principle applies in other areas.

Judging from the reaction of the Western media , its clear that the Islamic Republic has reached a great achievement today.
During the presidency of Dr. Ahmadinejad we had great achievement. For example , oil revenues have been at record highs. We have invented military equipments. And more importantly, Iran is more politically powerful.

Its only a matter of time before we land on Mars :)

What military equipment has Iran invented? And just so you know, building a plane is not inventing a plane. Maybe that's why Persians claim to have invented everything, they've confused the definition of "invent" with that of "build".

Now, as for the actual rocket lauch. Good job Iran. You've managed to possibly launch a rocket into the lowest edges of space a good 50 years after the first time that was accomplished. Somehow I'm thinking Mars is a long way off.

There will be great financial benefit in space tourism within the next few decades. It will just continue to grow once it gets started. That's one wonderful sector that Iran could target and be very successful at. Imagine affordable space travel & walk, and eventually there will be pit stops of space-age Persian Tea Houses where travelers can make a stop and relax. I hope to see that in my life time. :)

    []eh?

other countries like iran are catching up.....while ur country relies on immigrants to keep ur nation in the global market.

by the time other countries have achieved a certain level, where r these immigrants going to come from?

now [] accept the fact that Iran is 11th nation to join the space club

Um, I don't know if you've noticed or not, but the U.S. has relied on immigrants to take care of business since 1776 (earlier if you include the colonial days). I think its worked out thus far.

Now lets see if iran can actually put a man in space and who knows maybe they can even start helping out with the International Space station.

Who were the first 10? When did they accomplish this?

How high did it go? What was the payload?

What am I missing, isn't this just recycled 1950s technology? What's next Transistor radio, Rock n'Roll and Black and White TV?

I'm not sure of all of the 10, but one of them has to be that group of amateur rocket enthusiasts who did it 5 or 6 years ago. Oh, wait, that's not a country...just a bunch of rocket geeks.

But still, well done Iran. ;)

    ---

In all seriousness, the rocket that they used carries less then 50 kilos, I believe. Still, if this actually happened(no outside agencies were willing to confirm a launch had actually taken place), it should be a wake up call to Europe. The Iranians would be rapidly approaching the ability to hit parts of Europe with these missiles (sorry, "rockets"). While they wouldn't be able to carry nukes(too heavy), they could equip them with other weapons, and their range and payload capabilities should only get better with time.

Oops - bad typing skills. Meant to type 500 kilos.

And despite my good-natured digs, this is a pretty big accomplishment for Iran. In less then 10 years, they have taken a pretty suspect North Korean missile, and re-worked it into the rocket they just launched. They appear to be rapidly catching up to (if not passing) their (former?) suppliers from North Korea, and if they can perfect this missile, maybe they can begin to supplement their oil income with arms sales.

By the same token the US and other countries should begin giving weapons to MEK, freedom fighters and all.

Wild guess , logic is not your strong point.

You don't see other countries congratulating themselves or thanking god for a monumental achievement when they are able to duplicate 1950s technology. Most countries simply have no need for a space program of their own.

That is between you and them.

In economics there is a special topic called animal spirits......its a term coined by Keynes. Iran has slowly but progressively increase this type of spirit.....which in results brings confidence in all aspects of the economy.
