WILL OUR HEROES OVERCOME THEIR CHALLENGES AND ONCE AGAIN TRIUMPH OVER E.V.I.L.? YOU CANT AFFORD TO MISS A SINGLE SECOND OF THE ACTION!!
Atlanta plays against NYRB tonight at 7:30. A draw is probably the best result for us given the standings. Either way, let's hope Atlanta goes full throttle and tires out a bit for the weekend. They've also been dealing with a few injuries (though this isn't news for some of these guys): We'll have a game in hand on every team in the east by the time we play on Sunday (two and three games, in some cases). We're going to need to start converting those into three points if we're going to stay in the playoff race or climb the standings. It'd be lovely to begin that trend against Atlanta. Obligatory Outkast song:
National TV. At home. Weak opponent. They played midweek, we didn’t. Anything other than three points will be a huge disappointment.
The DORA opens at 1pm. #SundayFunday and all that, right? However... There's a 60% chance of rain and storms basically all day.
100% agree and yet these are the exact historical conditions under which our team consistently underperforms.
Yeah, Columbus is gonna get blanked - again - in front of ~19k people who waited through a 45 minute rain/lightning delay. Caleb Porter will leave two subs unused and then say that he has the better team and that they were unlucky to not get the win. He might blame a ref. He will appear to be frustrated with the result.
How did Zawadski find his way to the doghouse? I thought we played some of our best soccer of the season when he was on the field. He looks strong, moves well, is engaged defensively, and we looked good as a unit when he was on the field. This is another opportunity to punch a team below us in the table, which is where we get most of our points. As mentioned elsewhere this has a classic Crew shit the bed feel to it. Big crowd, national TV, "big opponent," and potential weather. Do we stand a chance?
me: I hate prop bets. They devalue serious thought and sporting analysis and reward wild-ass guesses. also me: I can’t pass up this prop bet.
The Weather Underground app says: 80% chance of thunderstorms at kickoff, gradually falling to 60% by 8pm.
