Obviously, even though he's been the best CB for Germany since post-World Cup, it must be because Loew hates every center back that doesn't have the name bad in it. All of it makes sense.

Exactly, you hit the nail on the head. Maybe you should join SirManchester as Loew's chief consultant or something. Wow, and I thought no one on BigSoccer could make it to the grandest stage of all...

I'd still like to see Badstuber and Boateng together. For example against Real Madrid or Chelsea their defense was very good. Against Dortmund it wasn't....so there's always a chance they'll blow it. But if they concentrate and train hard they can do it.
I'm actually more worried about the offense. Against France with Schürrle, Özil and Reus nothing worked even though they are very good and special players.
Maybe only Poldi, Özil and Müller really works...don't know :(

And I never wanna see Schmelzer again. This guy can't play. And he is too crazy sometimes when playing in the offensive part. He tries too hard.
Don't let that guy on the playfield during the Euro or I have to cut my own....ah whatever! Point made :)

Is Isreal tomorrow? Can we just add "Isreal" to this thread title and continue here?

Agreed... Maybe we should just create one Euro 2012 thread and discuss all in there , instead of having multiple threads for the next 4 weeks????

Not sure about that. match games actually get a lot more attention plus play-by-play and the non-regulars. Friendlies don't get that much attention...unless we get scored on 5 times by a team like, oh, I don't know...Switzerland. :)

If accurate, it probably means that Löw wants to give Mertesacker every chance to prove his doubters wrong. Also close to what we'll see on the 9th.

You don't think loew will try 433 tomorrow?

Plus why merte? Why not hummels? I guess maybe give them both a half.

Will be very interesting match, as far as threads go.
Let's keep one dedicated for each euro game, we don't want to turn it into a cluster@&&

My thinking is that he wants to give Merte some playing time to get his fitness back AND he wants Hummels to come in in the second half when the game is already decided so he will not be emotionally charged, and hopefully, can get some of his confidence back.

Schweinsteiger sitting this one out is concerning. We need our starting midfielders to get a good feel for each other going into this tournament. It is our strongest area and the players must work as a cohesive unit. If Schweinsteiger comes on in the 46th minute, I hope Loew gives the midfield at least half an hour to get a good feel for each other before making any further subs.

Also, Hummels can't be feeling too confident right now. Funny how some folks were saying that Badstuber is the one we need to be concerned about. Hopefully, Hummels sees a lot of minutes as a substitute to get that confidence back to top level.

If Hummels starts during the tourney or not, he needs to be partnered up with Bads as soon as the WC qualifiers start.

Schweini has a calf injury......it's just a precautionary measure not to play him. He will be ready to go next week.

Glad to see Hummels benched! Would have loved to see Howedes in the middle pair with Bads instead of Per.

Schweinsteiger is being rest because he's not 100%. Mertesacker is probably starting because he lacks match practice.
