Honestly can't speak for losing any internet service in Dubai. (Crosses fingers any bad karma doesn't move in my direction.)
A third undersea cable was also cut a few days later. They guess it was probably ship anchors, but it's an interesting coincidence that you would get three breaks like this in a week.
Didn't they have a similar problem that affected east Asia about a year ago? IIRC, it involved some cable near Taiwan. Did they figure out the cause of the problem?
I can't see why. All the big terrorist groups are highly dependent on the internet for recruiting, communication, propaganda, and conducting actions.
Well...there is quite a bit of anti-internet islamic preaching, probably because of pornography. I wouldn't be surprised...and it wouldn't need to be a big group...just an informed one.
