Bullshit. This is a sign that Nagbe hates his country. How dare he prioritize certain aspects of his career as he approaches 30!

Also, everyone's favorite team's quarterback is never allowed to retire, or have any personal or family commitments, interests, or health concerns, and they're not allowed to be physically or mentally tired in any way, and they need to remember that they exist entirely for our entertainment.

Per Steven Goff (on Twitter), Paul Arriola has withdrawn due to family matters in California.

Thats fine, but the issue that I have is that unless he was misquoted he straight up lied and said there had been no contact from Greg or any of his staff. If don't want to play for the national team just say it don't go out and lie

He should be. But they called him again after he declined the Gold Cup. He probably declined in January or March too. Like a stalker, they will probably keep trying.

He was specifically asked about Berhalter. So, if he talked with Stewart or someone else at USSF or Atlanta FC did, he is technically correct. But very disingenuous.

Roster should be out soon. Good to see Sargent, Dest, Pomykal leaked as being on it. Good to see Nagbe is not. Could have used Arriola, as Weah is hurt. But he has been sucking up minutes for 6 months and we are not going to learn anything new.

Pomykal would be a good option to replace Arriola. He's a much different player, but he provides a lot of defensive ability and distribution.

I don't think Nagbe cares to play for the USMNT. I don't think he plays well when he does. He looks good on TV because he will have some good dribbles and you don't see the passes he doesn't make. He is helped by being on one of the better teams that is not put under pressure much in the midfield.

He is a good MLS player and is no great loss for the USMNT. I really don't see what he would be other than a late game sub for McKennie or Pulisic to kill a game.

Arriola played good defense against Mexico. But he had to because Bradley and Ream couldn't handle things. Hopefully, we have some better defenders at those spots.

But I agree about Pomykal. I like him as a CM more than a winger, but Ramos liked him on the wing.

Oh, and I can't see Pomykal replacing Arriola. Pomykal would be ahead of Arriola as a building block for the team for me. Arriola is a place holder, a very likable one, to be sure.

I think the longer story of the Gold Cup call up of Nagbe was that he was a replacement to an injured Duane Holmes. Perhaps at his age he was saying if I am not a first choice call up call someone else.

Pomykal doesn't do much to provide width, he likes to migrate centrally. I don't know if that fits with Berhalter's scheme much, but it would provide for a player like Dest to exploit that sideline while Pomykal pinches in to try to pick out passes.

I think that Arriola has a place in the team...he continues to raise his level to meet challenges. Next on the plate for him is maximizing his opportunities in chance creation and finishing. If he does that, then he will be impossible to unseat.

PP in the middle to move Pulisic laterally is the dream formation for a lot of us.

Oh boy. Sounds like the MNT was patient with Nagbe and held their peace. This last refusal was where they had to open up. Not sure how this will develop.

Unless you are focused on hating players most should be over the moon with the guys coming in.

For me, having Dest, Sargent and Pomykal come in was a must. Robinson, Yueill and Morales are a nice addition.

Happy to see Dest, Morales, and Pomykal.

Not thrilled with Trapp and Lovitz

Good - Dest (seemingly ready to commit to us), Morales, Gonzalez, and Sargent/Pomykal.

Bad - sticking with Baird, Zardes, Ream, Lovitz, Trapp.

Overall - fine. Would've been OK with a few more surprises and less "status quo", but from Egg at this point, you gotta look at this as a win.

Pulisic is listed as a forward this time, in the past he was listed as a midfielder, hoping that means we are more likely to see him on the wing than in the middle.
