Boyd, Weah, Pulisic, Yedlin, Steffen, CCV, Miazga, and Sargent should all be called in for The Nations League games, but I'd give them this camp off because this is right at the start of the Euro seasons, and all off them are either trying to get acclimated at new clubs, or earning a spot at their current ones.

Some things I'd like to see:

McKennie and Adams starting in the midfield together.
Lima and Cannon as your fullbacks
Duane Holmes getting a shot at the #10 role
Some U20 standouts getting a chance, particularly Pomykal
Long and Brooks as the starting CB pairing, because I think it's our best one.
I also wouldn't mind getting another look at Alfredo Morales

team I would like to see-

    ---------------------Sargent--------------------

    Weah-----------------------------------Pulisic

    ----------Pomykal----------Weston-----------

    ---------------------Adams-----------------------

    IDK------Brooks--------Long--------Cannon

    ---------------------steffen-------------------

Lb- lol... maybe gloster gets quality minutes with hannover

Cb- Brooks and long seem to be the best right now. miazga 3rd and hopefully EPB/CCV find a good club situation

Rb- Cannon looked good! yedlin is still here, but Dest and Araujo are coming quick!

Dm- tyler. write his name in pen.

Cm- Paxton and Weston would work well with each other. they both have a well rounded game, and having tyler behind them would be helpful

Lw- Weah bc he is better than pulisic with shooting. he would be able to cut in on his right foot

Rw- but your best player in a spot he can influence the game the most

Cf- Jozy could be here, but i think Josh takes the next step this season. Soto is around. mason toye/ferreria are interesting too.

The front 6 all being u21 players seems crazy at first, but those really are the best options at present AND for this cycle.

Players i'd like to see get called up to the senior team/mesh with each other against Mexico and an almost confirmed Uruguay:

U-20: Dest, Soto, Gloster, Pomykal, Mendez, Sargent.

Europe: Green, Haji, Holmes, Hyndman, CCV, Klinsmann, Horvath, Robinson, Wood.

MLS: Cannon, Zimmerman, Long, Lletget, Johnson, Zelalem.

Leave Pulisic, Steffen, Mckennie, Brooks, Yedlin, Weah, Boyd, Miazga, and Adams out to start their leagues.

I believe Matchday 1 in UEFA CL is Sep 17/18. If Adams plays 6th in NY and there's another game midweek following (10th?) then he'll have to fly and play BL game followed by CL game so 4 games in 12 days or something like that, with T/A travel in between.

    I doubt Adams will show.

Things can be very simple sometimes.:)

It'll be a nice time for Bradley to schmooze with the notables and laydown some preliminary pavement on the way to his post playing career.

I mean if it’s a FIFA date and he’s healthy he will show. They can’t stop us from calling him. Now we could potentially let him go after the first game. RB likely wouldn’t start him in their mid week game then play him in UCL but it also depends on their group and who their playing.

Seriously? Mexico again? Our federation is so boring. We play nobodies and we win (and are supposed to feel great). We play Mexico- they possess. If we finish we win, if they finish they win. I don’t think we are making them better and I don’t think they are making us better.

I guess this is how it’s going to be forever now with the Nations leagues going on. So. Damn. Dull.

In fairness, pickings were extremely slim this window. Africa, Asia, and Europe all have qualifiers, and every CONCACAF team outside of Honduras, Costa Rica, and Mexico were booked with Nations League.

All that was left was those 3 and South America, many of which already had games booked. Uruguay is rumored for the other game

Yeah, I get what’s making it happen. It just sucks. It’s the same crap all over again. I think these Nations leagues will have long lasting and very negative impacts on the US and on Mexico. Neither one of us will ever get to be very good just playing each other.

Is the SUM-FMF contract still going, the one where Mexico and the USA have to play each other it seems every year?

Is this an evaluation week? So close to Nations League, it seems like a lot of the top players and prospects won't really want to come.

It could be a rough roster.

And so bring in a bunch of young Euro-based players and dual-nationals to take a look.

Generally agree, though I would bring in Paxton and any other impressing MLS players as well.

Given how early it is in the year with players trying to cement slots, given Nations League, I bet we get an underwhelming roster for various reasons.

But yes, ideally this is trying to evaluate for our given starting and backup holes. The challenge is, how many quality regulars around the evaluees (?) do you need for it to be fair? It will be harder for Antonee Robinson to shine with third stringers than the starters, for example.

Haven't seen him much this year in MLS / Colorado (I think?) but I was high on Kelyn Acosta last season. If fixture congestion expands the list of call-ups I hope he gets called back.

He got called into the Jan 40 then released, I think?

Right.....when those same young Euro-based players are trying to earn playing time wtih their club teams. Having them staying in training and hopefully getting some playing time seems much more valuable, long term, than having them come in for a meaningless match.

Thanks, I just checked the FIFA calendar and see that. Given the League of Nations matches in October maybe you are correct for September. Bring in some of the young Euro based players.

Not sure what GB will do with this window. They are friendlies, but they are the only real competition. Leipzig plays at Bayern on the 14th, but doesn't play after 8/30. I could see the same deal as in March, with Adams playing on the 6th vs. Mexico, then going home.

A B team versus Uruguay might be ugly. But that is one way to do it.

This is said around here quite often. I have not seen any actual evidence that it makes any difference at all. There is no reason to play everyone 180', but there is no reason not to call anyone at all.

And Tim Ream is going to get roasted by Pizarro, Lozano, or whoever else Mexico feels like needs a confidence boost.

Pulisic and Adams will be absentees, imo.

Fitting CL with club and country in that Sep window is especially tough.
