Pains me to say that Maza played pretty decent... Guardado was pretty good too. I hope their haters recognize that they're probably the best options atm for this team considering that Reyes hasn't shown very well and Gullit has been terrible.
Reyes has been quiet but I prefer quiet to being prone to mental lapses like Maza. Not to mention he's faster as well
That's exactly why I think Cheech should start. Nobody knows who Oribe is but Gio is a lot more easily recognized so he gets the tight marking instead. If Chicharito were in there he'd get the marking and allow a more talented Gio to roam a little more freely and do his thing while Chicharito keeps the backline on their toes deep in their own half.
A goalkeeper should never step back before attempting a dive, let alone start a dive from a line. However, I am glad he will get the start. It was a toss up for me, but I am happy for Memo that he will finally get the start in the WC. I am also happy that all the fake wilas on BSMX will finally shut up.
I'm ok with whoever starts at gk, but I will feel extra bad for corona if he doesn't, this is his last shot and he has done enough these four years to merit starting.
Oribe looked as pedestrian tonight as he did with Israel and Ecuador, only one in which Gio played. And a bigger reason than Gio drifting to the wings and actually doing something, was the fact Oribe was slow and got totally manhandled. If Piojo wasn´t dumb, he would see that more than who is going there to the end of those ineffective crosses (as if Peralta got into a single one).
It's because he signed with TV Azteca FC. I bet he was granted a starting position in the World Cup as well.
I don't buy that, I just hope we don't have a guille Franco situation again. If cheech is playing better (which he is), he should start. I'll take 10 goals in England over 7 goals in liga mx any day. Oribe has significantly dropped form and he shouldn't start.
I beg to differ, specially the way things run in the wonderful world of Mexican football. Where you are forced to sign with a club to go to the World Cup and the good ole pacto de caballeros that killed de Nigris.
I agree with your overall point but Hernandez was coming back from injury in the run up to the WC and was not playing better than Guille. Franco then stubbed his toe against England and was never the same. Still, Hernandez thrived on space and a surprise factor. He wasn't going to provide that from the start.
My annoying chivista friend was defending shitty Salcido and Corona. He said that gol was Ochoa's fault, because he never comes out of his line and it makes him look like a p*ssy. And that Salcido is the experienced defender we need. I brought up the fight and he said that he would've looked like a P*ssy if he had backed down from that 60 year old man. His opinions seem very familiar to some of you on the board.
A lot of the people who just dont want Ochoa to start would blame him for any type of goal Portugal would've scored yesterday, they could have taken the entire defense and end up one on one with ochoa and it would somehow still be ochoa's fault lol Hope he ends ups starting the WC
Tbf, Portugal's goal wasn't unstoppable... I just don't understand how the goalkeeper decision comes down to politics when both goalies are level with each other. Handing Ochoa the starting gig just because Vasco facked him over four years ago would be unjust and would be considered entitlement. Both goalies have done enough for the starting job and had it been Corona who would have won the spot, it should not have been considered crooked or unfair whatsoever.
It's because he regularly interacts with a lot of them... He's the correspondent to FOX sports in Spain, it's his job... He's just defending the players he's close to, 90% of Mexican journalists are way more annoying than him.
There is a reason why most of us get wet when there is interest for one of our players from a European club, no? When ever I see liga mx players on the ball I expect nothing to happen with the exception of Fabian. But when I see Gio, Herrera or guardado on the ball they always hold it with confidence, or at least it seems to me that way. Whenever I see gallito or Gullit I expect them to lose it, slip or a back pass.
