Where did you hear this from? They announced only the friendly against Sweden on the 17th so far for the PWNT.
100 million people societey will now have a chance to watch their women football team play on biggest stage. It will surely make an impact, some people in Vietnam will start asking questions why the gap is so big and then perhaps start to pressure the fed to invest more in woso.
it is probably one of those typical scrimmage 3x30 with unlimited subs where teams try tactics and line-ups for 30 minutes and then change things.
England is now 337 mins without goal scored. Australia 1 - 0 France Fowler 66' (att: 50 629 - a new record fo AUS.... that will hold only a week )
Ireland's Women's World Cup warm-up friendly vs Colombia is ABANDONED after game 'became overly physical' with one Irish player hospitalised ✍️ @KathrynBatte https://t.co/fldqI6DeOl— Mail Sport (@MailSport) July 14, 2023 Denise O’Sullivan has gone to hospital with an injured shin after an "overly physical" tackle prompted the Ireland manager Vera Pauw to cancel the final World Cup warm-up match against Colombia after just 20 minutes at Meakin Park, south of Brisbane.— Gavin Cummiskey (@Cumoski) July 14, 2023
I've only seen highlights of France v. Australia. It looked quite competitive, with France seeming to have the better chances. France should have gotten a penalty kick when Catley absolutely hammered Le Somer in the back in the box--but, in the category of how WC matches will be won and lost, it wasn't called.
I feel Vietnam player was kicked or bodychecked from behind and lost the ball. Bit like Rodman 2nd goal vs. Wales. Not sure if VAR would allow both those goals.
A bit too physical game with the referee unable to control it. It ends up with a serious injury to Bacha. And VAR will hopefully review that kind of penalty incident during the World Cup.
There has been no news whatsoever from either the US or Philippine camp that the US vs Philippines match ever went thru today. I expect this from the Philippine side but the USSF tends to be more forthcoming about the games the US WNT plays before the Women's World Cup.
Surprised no one mentioning the Columbia - Ireland "friendly". Apparently ref stopped game during first half as it was too rough. The Aussie/France game was a bit full on for a friendly less then a week before the World Cup as well.
I only watched the 1st half but was surprised at the amount of what looked to be obvious fouls that were let go. As a match official in another version of football I soon learnt that if you didn't call things early in a game it became harder to call them later on and the players usually responded to what you let go by doing more of it and worse.
Japan 5 - 0 Panama Risa Shimizu 33', Yui Hasegawa 37' 61', Aoba Fujino 60', Moeka Minami 90'+3 (att. 10 206)
NZ-Italy was indeed played behind closed doors and it ended 0-1, with goal by Valentina Giacinti at 22'. Interesting choices of starters were Francesca Durante as the GK instead of Laura Giuliani, and 16 yo Giulia Dragoni in the midfield.
Actually USSF in the past hasn't often given much info on closed-door scrimmages. I'd look instead to some of the media who are already on the ground and/or social media posts to see if it happened.
Another tune-up match played behind closed doors on Sunday: Norway 2 - 1 Portugal Goalscorers unknown.
