Basically a few UEFA national teams have organised themselves to create a u-23 League to bridge the gap between the u-19 Euros and senior football. This is what the English FA mentioned earlier this year.

This is a brilliant idea. I’ve waited a long time for the U23 team to have a meaningful competition schedule. Earlier they just played the odd friendly with nothing at stake. As professionalism in woso improves, the gap between the U20s and the senior national team is becoming very big and it grows every year. The U23 league should fill a vital role in preparing players for the big stage.

I think those nations are doing a test run to show UEFA that they should create a u-21/u-23 women competition like the men already have...

France climb to third place in the table, Spain stays in second place, three more games later today:

    England Belgium
    Sweden Italy
    Netherlands Portugal
