It says in the Arizona Republic that there were only 17 expulsions at US/Mexico match in Glendale, which apparently is less than they normally get for Cardinals games. I wonder if this is a datapoint to be used everytime the stereotype of unruly soccer fans comes up in the media here. http://www.azcentral.com/community/peoria/articles/0210gl-soccer09Z2.html Good on the fans of both the US and Mexico for playing it straight and just enjoying the match.
There wasn't a ridiculous amount of hostility there. Yes, there were a few things, yes I had a beer thrown on me, but I think that given what could have happened, it didn't go all that terribly. Stadium security seemed to be...lacking, but overall, wasn't too terrible.
