    Group D Pts

    Lyon 7
    Internazionale 5
    Ajax 5
    Rosenborg 3

We won't qualify in this round whatever happens, but we must win in order not to have to beat ajax in amsterdam.

I think from now on it's the 4-4-2 formation that we're gonne use.

    Starting lineups seems to be:

    1 Toldo
    4 Javier Zanetti
    5 Emre Belözoglu
    7 Sérgio Conceição
    9 Crespo
    13 Cannavaro
    14 Di Biagio
    20 Recoba
    23 Materazzi
    32 Vieri
    77 Coco

Let me see if I can place them....

    Toldo

    Defenders
    Coco, Matrix, Fabio, Zanetti

    Midfield
    Emre, Di Biagio, Conceicao

    Recoba

    Forwards

    Crespo, Vieri

Looks like Cordoba is odd man out in the 4-4-2.

Well, the more the merrier. Welcome.

My prediction? I have no clue, anything can happen. What's the ESPN2 match today?

Will Spartak's 1,000th post occur in the Inter forum? Only the shadow knows.

    ESPN2 doesn't show Wednesday matches.

OK, I have a pet peeve. Why do they update the standings on UEFA.com with in-progress matches? As soon as they kick off each team is credited with a tie. Confusing.

I think it is a great feature. It shows you how the group is if the matches finish as is. I think you are just mad because right now Inter are in 3rd place.

Well the match isn't official till it's over. So why show unofficial standings? Whatever.

According to the verbiage on uefa.com Inter seem to be playing well.

RAI sometimes does this when there's a close league race at the end of the season - they have the "real-time" standings ie if the games ended NOW, this is the way it is. So, since the games start 0-0, each team starts the day with a point.

In all fairness here are the updated live standings:

    Internazionale 8
    Ajax 8
    Lyon 7
    Rosenborg 3

I think Inter needs Lyon to beat Ajax because it will be hard to get a draw at Ajax.

    Half time 1-0 to Inter......

Does anyone know the score of the other game?

(.... removed partial result from another game ... SueB)

Generally not a good idea to discuss results of other games. Sure, neither game is being shown in the US, but there are sometimes people here from outside the US. This happened to me once when I gave a result away to bestianera. There is a thread for that game in the Roma forum.

Sounds like surprising play out of Conceicao! Two assists, albeit the latter with help from the defender.

SueB, we can't discuss the Ajax-Lyon match? Wouldn't spartaks live results imply the score in that match ;)?

Seriously, next time maybe we'll preface the thread with a disclaimer that the entire groups results would be discussed.

    3-0 Crespo

Need to pull Cannavaro out, he's playing with a yellow. Cordoba?

Full-time. Great job for Inter. Their first convincing victory of the season!
