A fair amount of Total Football being played lately. White pushing up high on right, sometimes even playing left 8. Timber also. Partey as central CB at times. Leo all over the place. Very fluid interchanges and coverages going on.
43-47' quite the sequence... Timber with a cross-shot that was moving weirdly in the air, troubling the GK. Led to a corner by Saka which was delivered dangerously, which led to another opposite side corner by Marti, which led to another corner from Saka. Like corner tennis! But ultimately nothing came of all that. Except a counter by Inter as soon as they regained possession. Which led to a foul, a free kick and then... a handball by Merino in our box and a PK. UGH!!!! After long VAR review... 1-0 to Inter.
Just catching up wit the start of 2T. Saliba missed a sitter of an open header from like 5 yards out. If we're to have any chance, we just have to be more clinical!
57' Saka corner to Gabriel at near post. His header skews just past the far post. Was hard for me to see clearly. Edit: Actually Dumfries cleared it off the line. Yikes that was close! 59' Havertz with a fantastic curling shot to the far top corner, forced a really good save by Sommer. COYG!!!!!
Saka just wasted a good chance there. Giving up the ball, not for the first time. Not the best game from him me thinks. But he's always got that game-changing goal/assist in him so...
75' Timber with a great, marauding run down the touchline. Ultimately leads to a shot by Kai that deflects just wide. Then the 13th corner... to nowhere.
Surely a goal is coming from us. They're basically letting us set up camp in their third. Alternatively, they catch us on the counter and make it 2-0. What will it be boys??
Yup. And Inter are VERY confident in their ability to defend. And so far that confidence seems warranted.
Yet another head-scratching call by the ref. After the clash of heads, with no one at fault, he gives Inter a FK on their 6-box. Instead of a drop ball?!
