The games keep coming at us when we all wish they would just stop. I think there is a (dream) world in which things look significantly better a few months from now. If that does happen, I would really like to still be in the Champions League at that point. I think the players also mentally need the Champions League dream to still be alive in order to keep fighting to fix this. So we could really do with a good result. 🚨 Mohamed Salah expected to be left out of Liverpool squad for Inter match. No final decision yet + 33yo training. Would underline Arne Slot support but not viewed as punishment - more common sense after comments + #LFC want forward to stay @TheAthleticFC https://t.co/IFPLR9dB5I— David Ornstein (@David_Ornstein) December 8, 2025
Inter are in 5th spot in the CL - W5 L1. They are 2nd in SerieA - W10 L4. A draw tomorrow will be a very very good result for us.
Well - it's been decided: Mo Salah won’t travel with the squad in Italy for the game against Inter. Confirmed. Decision made this morning even if he was on the training ground. He is expected to come back against Brighton on Saturday. https://xcancel.com/FabriceHawkins/status/1998021285629272326
Can't see that at all. Unless Mo does a public apology which I won't hold my breath for. BTW who TF is Fabrice Hawkins? Never heard of them.
Slot on Salah: "We've let him know he's not travelling with us. That's been the only communication between us and him."
Arne Slot on if his relationship has broken down with Salah: “That's not the way I feel but he has the right to feel how he feels things. I haven't felt that at all until Saturday evening for sure. When I didn't play him anymore usually players don't like the manager that much, but he was very respectful to the staff members and to his team-mates and he trained really hard so it was a bit of a surprsie when I heard he made those comments. But it’s not the first time a player hasn't played. My reaction to that is also clear and that's why he isn't here tonight…”
Slot on whether Salah has played his last game for Liverpool: "I have no clue. I cannot answer this question at this moment in time."
Slot: "It's hard for me to know what Mo exactly means. Usually I am calm and polite but that doesn't mean I am weak. It was up to us to react and we've done that."

Alisson Becker on Salah: “Him not being available is a consequence of what he did. He's smart enough to know that. I haven't spoken to Mo about it how I want to talk. We have a good relationship, it's not just a team-mate, we spend so much time together. We are good friends. You share so many moments together, happy moments, sad moments, that creates a bond betweeb people. I will have a conversation but it's going to be private becuase it's personal.”
Alisson on Rooney’s comments on Salah that he’s disrespectful : “I don't believe his goal is to disrespect anyone. I believe he has the freedom to speech, to talk about how he feels about his own situation. What we expect is a player who wants to play, who is not comfortable being on the bench. “Again, you have the freedom to talk but you need to deal with the consequences of that. I think that's clear. As a team, it's not important how we feel, it's important how we react and the reaction is to stay together and working hard. It's not about what's best for Mo or the team, it's about what's best for the club.”
There’s enough there to find a common ground, if both sides want to find one. Which is no more than I’d expect from a corporation like Anfield. The fly in the ointment is Salah. He hasn’t always been best advised, looking for short term wins, sacrificing long term stability. I get it, corporation is ageless, Salah has 15 years of a career. But he would be better served separating his onfield selfish forward mentality (perfectly acceptable) from his off-field wannabe lifetime all time Liverpool great. That window is still open.
Alisson on Salah being criticised unfairly: “I don't follow too much what people say about him so I don't know exactly what criticisms they are. If he said he is feeling like that then he has the right to talk about it. But criticism is a part of football. “We have to be realistic about our situation we are living, the things we need to improve. It's difficult to identify what the problems are but we are focused on that.”
Sorry for the barrage of posts, but this is a fascinating press conference. Alisson on if he and the team are still behind Slot: "Of course...Before Arne came in, everyone talks about the huge challenge he had coming in as a substitute for Jurgen Klopp. It shouldn’t be taken for granted what we achieved last season."
I think you play Konate, to get his head back right. Can't see him dropping Gakpo, although I would....
Credit to Allison for facing the questions. It’s worth noting that Salah only speaks to the media when he’s discussing his own contract or playing time. By no means did Allison come to the defense of Salah, and he was strong in his support of Slot. I wonder how that’s how the rest of the dressing room feels. It’s quite extraordinary that it has come to this.
