MILAN - By looking at the number of visitors to www.inter.it, the number of Inter Channel subscribers, the throngs of spectators at the San Siro and the records of last season, it was clear. But from yesterday it's official. Public opinion research by AC Nielsen has confirmed that Inter have more fans than cross-city rivals AC Milan. The region with the highest number of Inter Clubs is Lombardy, with the Veneto region in second place. Nerazzurro keeper Francesco Toldo , born in Padua, Veneto, smiled when he read the reports in the newspapers. Toldo commented, "It's nice to read that we have a lot of fans. It gives us even more strength. We were already aware of Inter's large fan-base, and I have to admit that by travelling around Italy with the Inter shirt I have noticed the great warmth of the fans." Domenico Morfeo echoed Toldo 's words, saying, "Having experienced both the Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri fans, I have to admit that the Nerazzurri fans immediately showed their affection for me, showing that they are all over Italy. I see fans everywhere and this gives me enormous pleasure."
Inter's rise in popularity can be directly attributed to Ronaldo. Before him they would only average around 30,000 people at San Siro and after it rose near 60,000. But with him now gone it appears Milan will pass them again. Who has more season tickets holder's this year?
I think the fans who became interista because of ronaldo will always be with inter, at least most of them... specially after we will win the scudetto this year... and the season tickets, only a slight bit more...nothin really to it...
yeah spartak. to tell you guys the truth, the first real soccer games I wathced were in WC 98'. I immediately started to like Ronaldo, and so then I started to follow inter. So sueb is right when she says I haven't been following inter that long. But, I obviously love inter still. Trust me: the fans of ronaldo will stay fans of inter. FORZA INTER
I would think there are more fans of AC Milan outside of Italy than Inter. After that whole dynasty thing they had going on in Europe.
Ronaldo came to inter after milan was doing well in europe, and don't underestimate the effect ronaldo had outside italy (probably the most popular player now) a lot changed since, so you really can't tell.
It's just a guess but I would say Inter have more fans in South America and Milan have more fans in Europe(especially Eastern Europe). And the rest of the world is about even.
