Tonight is the second week of "Inside New Jersey Soccer" on News 12 NJ. The show covers soccer in NJ from the youth level to the pros. 95% of the content is Metros-related. It airs at 10:30 p.m. and repeats at 11:30 p.m. If you can't catch it tonight, it's played on Saturday at 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. News 12 NJ is available on most New Jersey cable systems. The mere fact that the station decided to take on a soccer show is a big break through. When you factor that the show is running right in the middle of the Devils and Nets playoff drives, it's even more impressive. Including tonight, the show has nine weeks to go. We hope that this pilot show will be successful and drive media outlets to consider such programming. Success can only be measured by your feedback. If you have the chance to see the show, please send us your comments. Comments can be either posted on these boards or sent to metrofan@metrostars.com. If the feedback is positive, then plese copy the management at News 12 NJ. Thanks for your help, and we look forward to you opinions.

That makes two soccer related programs to watch each week, excellent news.

This could be the start of something big. If this show works on Channel 12, then it may pave the way for other MLS teams to get shows on cable access channels. In fact, I heard that the cable system serving Morris County is pondering whether to have such a show on the channel that now features text messages about school plays and volunteer fire department clam bakes. Btw, has Channel 12 pre-empted their 'Focus on the Amboys' segment for the pilot? I love that guy who says, "Perrrrth Amboyeee in the house".

    I'll give tonight's episode a thumbs up.

    Highlight's included:

    1) Last week's win with a "cute" angle on Magee's prom.
    2) Preview of the Rapids match.
    3) An interview with Bob Bradley.
    4) A segment on Jeff Moore, who if I recall, lives in the same house with Clint.
    5) A segment on the "evolution" of the Metros jersey.
    6) A "give-and-go" segment with John Wolyniec.

    Negatives?:

    1) The show was apparently taped early in the week, so they didn't cover Moreno being out for the next 3-6 weeks. The announcers were still calling it a "back sprain".
    2) A segment was shown on the open tryout the Metros had quite a while back. This was old news and not the kind of stuff that should be on for week # 4 of the MLS season.

    MFO-
Only other opinion/suggestion that I have is to post the names of the youth players who News 12 NJ and the Metros select to spotlight each week on your link for this program on your website. One of my "guys" was featured a few weeks ago and was flattered to be on TV.

The host is Kurt Siegelin. Co-host is Kevin Flynn, former player. They're not in a studio, they're in the Metros locker room.

The first show from last Friday, April 25, had:
    1) An analysis of the upcoming Columbus match.
    2) Interview with Bob Bradley.
    3) A report on the new FieldTurf. (brief, but good)
    4) Up-close and personal on Steve Jolley.
    5) Youth soccer segment.
    6) Tip of the week featuring Wolyniec.

Decent show. Good compliment to the MSG Metro Soccer Report.

Tonights episode is about how Nick got wasted on some cheap polish drink that rots your liver upon contact. Nick then stumbles into Magees prom. In the episode Nick trys to pick up a few under age girls by saying he is a friend of Magee's and that he is a star soccer player at his school, Sweet Valley High. Nick is also seen throwing up in the punch and then drinking from it later after the second commercial break. Magee Confronts Nick and tells him to go home and to quit bringing shame upon himself and Metrostars. Nick in a drunken rage smacks Magee in front of the whole prom and vows to Magee that he will be prom queen at any underhanded cost. Nick is seen asking the DJ to put on "Its Raining Men" and then is seen sleeping on the school lawn. The first half of the show is like any other reality show but its only about Metrostars staff and players. The rest is interviews and in a Q & A Magee forgives Nick saying it was the booze. It also has a nice segment about Metro Red the U 17 team.
