After reading countless posts asking why aren't we playing Martino, Buddle, Twellman, Clark, Olsen ect...I think it's important to point out something all of these players have in common. They're all recovering from injuries and trying to get back into fitness. Bruce has shown time and time again...he wants to let players regain their fitness with their TEAM before calling them in for friendlies. So by that standard he is NOT playing Woly and Ralston ahead of these players...Woly-Ralston-ect. are just healthier. Sanneh is the obvious exception here but since he's not playing with his team right now...calling him up isn't exactly a problem. Bruce did much the same with Reyna at last year's Gold Cup. The one question I have is why wasn't Wolff called up...he looks to have regained form and was on the squad in Holland. Surely he would've been better than Razov, Woly, ect. MLS is about to start. If Martino, Twellman, Buddle show well they'll be called in for qualifiers.
Bump. It's worth a shot. We'll probably still see the posts screaming about these guys not being included, but maybe if we're lucky one person will read this and spare us the argument to start a guy just coming off of surgery or injury. Probably not, but we've got to try. Lee
Yeah, the injuries have certainly made it tough, if not impossible, to get a lot of potential guys playing time. I do think this points out just how thin we are in talent. A few injuries and we start looking really shaky. Of course, an argument could be made that we've had 2 years since the last cup and outside of defense, no new guys have been uncovered that look like they are anywhere near able to help us out in comparison to who was filling their role last time around.
