I'm interested in finding out more about Toto Tammuz who I think may be an incredible talent (perhaps even better than Ben Sahar). First of all how confident are people that he is really only 18? I know sometimes people born in Africa make themselves appear younger so people will think they are better players (Some people claim Yakubu is close to 30....no one knows if this is true or not). Is he a full Israeli citizen? Wikipedia says he will get his citizenship when he turns 18, but this is old. He is 18 already and supposed to turn 19 in January. Is he serving in the army? If not I think he should go to Europe as soon as possible... Thanks for anyone that has info.
Re: Questions about Toto Tammuz Toto Tammuz was born in Nigeria. Later his mother moved to Israel for work. I don't know the full story, but Tammuz ended up being adopted at the age of 2 by an Israeli family. He was a toddler when he was adopted so I doubt if his age is fabricated. Tammuz is a citizen. I believe he is serving in army. Right now he is developing well in Israel. Although he is not a first team player, he gets regular playing time and plays with various international players, both Israeli and foreigners. He will get his shot in Europe, but let him develop more in Israel. Instead of having him go to Europe and never play, in a couple of years he will be ready to be a first team player for any big club in Europe.
Re: Questions about Toto Tammuz Thanks for posting. Considering he really is only 18 I think he is one of the better young talents to come out of Israel in a very long time. How would you rate him compared to Yakubu (they have a similar build)... I'm hoping by the time the U-21 Euro championships start both him and Ben Shushan will be starting regularly side by side for Beitar.
I don't think that their build is very similar. Aiyegbeni Yakubu is much bigger and much more of a force to keep with using good body to screen the ball. Tammuz is more of a quick runner with a deft touch and good shooting skills.
Re: Questions about Toto Tammuz Spanish clubs are interest in Tamuz, but he is serving in the army and can't go abroad for 2 years. Beitar says his price tag is $10 million.
Re: Questions about Toto Tammuz Do you know how long ago he started his military service? He turns 19 in a couple months.... I saw highlights of Beitar's last game on sport5 yesterday. He looked very good - I think he is going to be one of the better talents to come out of Israel. With him, Ben Sahar, and Guy Assulin the prospects for Israeli soccer look very good in the future...
Re: Questions about Toto Tammuz some facts from Wikipedia about Tamuz: "Though born in Nigeria, his[Toto's] parents came to Israel in 1990 where his father played proffessional football for Beitar Netaniya. He is said to be the son of the legendary Nigerian footballer Clement Temile. In fact his full name is Toto Adaruns Tammuz Temile. When the team ran into financial dire straits, and was forced to stop paying salaries, his parents reverted to working various odd jobs. His parents left Israel in 1991 to try and find gainfull employment in Nigeria or elsewhere, leaving Toto temporarily with a team mate of his father. When it became obvious the his parents were not coming back for him, Toto was adopted (unofficially) by Irit Tammuz who cared for him and raised him. That is where his Hebrew surname derives from. He started to play organized football at Hapoel Petah Tikva FC, where he made his professional debut during the 2005/06 season in a match against FC Ashdod. His debut was electrifying and he made national headlines for scoring two goals during the match."
Re: Questions about Toto Tammuz He is not obligated to go to the army in Israel. He is volunteering and he has yet to be drafted.
Re: Questions about Toto Tammuz Hi OBizz - I am best friends with Clement Temile, Toto's Father so what do you need to know. Clement is the former Nigerian International flying winger from the 1980's era who helped pave the way for greater things to come in the 1990's, like father like son you might say. Clement recently took his UEFA 'A' Coaching licence alongside the likes of Roy Keane and Peter Beardsley and is currently Head Coach at North London based Kentish Town Football Club who play in the Spartan South Midlands Leage Division 1, I am Secretary of the Club so I see 'the messiah' on a daily basis, sorry that's his nickname at the Club. You are right about Toto being an incredible talent and has the World at his feet, to be honest I don't think Ben Sahar can even hold a candle to him and England must be shaking in their boots at the prospect of facing him next month.

Re: Questions about Toto Tammuz I thought Tamuz no longer kept touch with his father. As it is now he won't be playing... but I'm hoping they fix the issues with his citizenship by then. He deserves to be an Israeli...
Great News! http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/822215.html Looks like toto tamuz is going to be staying put in Eretz Yisrael.
Re: Great News! That is great news indeed! I hope he enlists as soon as possible so he can be done with it and move to play for a top European team at a still young age. BTW does anyone know his birthdate? All the Israeli papers report him as 18 but wikipedia has him as 19 - I assume the Israeli papers are right...
Re: Great News! snowbozo21- Please continue the ongoing discussion and don't open new threads. MERGED
Toto Tamuz is the best striker in the Israeli League and very big talent! He is the top scorer of the league, he scored 10 goals. some goals of Toto Tamuz: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEFBrhOuN-A [Before a week, Toto Tamuz scored the first goal and the second goal - 00:23, 1:36] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTE0Ab-5TjY&mode=related&search= [Before 2 weeks, Toto Tamuz scored the first goal and the second goal - 1:00, 1:38] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlxii3TwuRw&mode=related&search= [Before 2 monthes, Toto Tamuz scored the first goal and the second goal - 1:40, 4:28] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ex8jUJFKAdk&mode=related&search= [Before a month, Toto Tamuz scored the second goal - 1:50]
Just incase some of you haven't seen the recent article in the Israeli National press about Toto and his father Clement Temile I attach a link below: http://sports.walla.co.il/?w=/157/1055806
Yet another interesting piece about Toto going into great depth about his complicated roots: http://web.israelinsider.com/Articles/Culture/10463.htm
An article about Toto from Saturday's (17 February) high profile 'Times' newspaper in England: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/middle_east/article1398114.ece
Two more links about Toto this time from Spain and Italy: http://www.elpais.com/articulo/deportes/futbolista/patria/elpepudep/20070222elpepidep_9/Tes http://www.gazzetta.it/Rubriche/CalcioEstero/Primo_Piano/2007/02_Febbraio/23/toto.shtml
If you can read Hebrew: http://www.one.co.il/cat/articles/article.aspx?id=88825&bz=6 If you can't read Hebrew this is saying that Nigeria's coach wants Tamuz to play for them. The Israeli Football Association responded by calling BS and saying that would never be allowed since Tamuz already played for Israel. Tamuz, for his part, said he has no interest and he only cares about Israel. What they're doing to this kid is wrong. Just give him citizenship
i couldnt agree more i remember watching israel u21 - france u21 and i saw toto tamuz singing hatikvah (israeli anthem) louder than any other of the players....it almost brought tears to my eyes....
Tamuz called up for israel next games http://sports.yahoo.com/sow/news?slug=reu-euroisraelsquad&prov=reuters&type=lgns
There was an interesting article about Toto in The Times in Britain today, it would seem that the whole World is talking about this young man at present: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/euro_2008/article1550898.ece
Israeli media is reporting that Rangers, a Russian team and two premiership teams have shown interest in Tamuz. For his career this would be a great move and I could see him becoming a leading striker someday soon, which would be great for Israel!! I do question how this would effect his quest for citizenship though. Could he still get citizenship in a few years if he lives somewhere else?
