Any info on the Earthquakes' return trip?

Yes, please post if any of you do. I will actually be making a couple runs to the airport (San Jose) for guests coming in for Thanksgiving and it would be awesome if we could catch the Quakes coming back.

We could give them a REAL welcome home with all the fans there!

    Everything you need to know:

The Earthquakes return to San Jose International Airport on Monday, November 24 at 1:55 p.m. on Southwest Flight #1634. All Earthquakes players and coaches will be available for interviews at the Southwest Airlines baggage claim.

Crap, looks like I won't make it. I really wish I could but I'll be in class!! I would certainly rather be at the airport waiting to greet the Quakes!!

    Mass transit info

For those of you who want to avoid the hassle of parking and driving around there, you can take Caltrain to the Santa Clara Caltrain stop. From there, catch one of the blue buses marked -- coincidentally -- "Airporter". I'm told they run every every 15 or 20 minutes, so you won't have to wait very long for one. That'll take you right to the terminal.

So did anyone go greet the team at the airport? Can they post an account?

Didn't get a chance to go. My son had an indoor soccer game. Bet it was great.

There were maybe 30 fans there along w/a few newscameras/crew. Not all the players returned home on the flight...no Donovan sighting. The players were very gracious in taking the time to sign autographs and have pictures taken--they weren't in any rush (at least they didn't show it). I think more people would have been there if the Quakes had returned Sunday night instead of a work/school day. The airport/parking garage wasn't crowded at all. It was great to see our team and congratulate them in person!

Hope they have a celebration downtown like they did for the last Cup win.

Donovan is a SoCal resident--safe bet to say he's taking the week off for the thanksgiving holiday.

A downtown celebration would be nice like in 2001 but that took place in October. The area will be decorated with Christmas props so be tough to have something, though a parade or arena celebration would be just as good if not better.

Re: Re: Info on the Earthquakes' return trip?

Landon told Tom Tolbert on KNBR today that he was in some mountain retreat in that area, getting some R&R for the next fortnight.

After that, he'll hit the training track running once again.

LD's got a work ethic that doesn't know the meaning of the word "quit".

Ah! I would be thinking he would just spend some time with the you-know-whos. No use travelling back and forth by plane, and he needs to rest up for at least another season with the Quakes, knock on wood.

Perfect getaway from the hassle, especially after a win.

    Si Se Puede.

I think that may very well be a Donovan family function, if I was a betting man. Good excuse for it, the setting plus the Thanksgiving holiday. :)
