I had done an exercise some years ago, when I established that winning the toss does have a big influence in the outcome of a cricket game (test matches). What I did was gathered data on Test Matches played in the last 10 years and broke them into the following form Game Won Game Drawn Game Lost Toss Won-------a--------------------b------------------------c------- Toss Lost-------d---------------------e--------------------------f------ I also divided the total games by games played home and away. Then I did a chi^2 test to test for significant differences between the proportions and found the winning % is significantly different when tosses are won. I want to do the same for football games. Does anyone know of a site where I can get the outcome of the coin toss that occurs before a game listed side by side with the game result? All help appreciated.
