As a former Clash STH and one of the early members of the Casbah back in 1995, I wanted to let the Casbah and the Ultras know about the Independent Supporters Council:

    http://www.soccersupporters.org/

This group grew out of some meetings between representatives of different supporters' groups at the Supporters' Summit in Seattle and elsewhere. It's designed to be a place where supporters of different teams can share information, discuss plans, and work to achieve the group's goals, as set forth in its Supporters Bill of Rights:

This is not a top-down operation; there are no dues and the ISC isn't going to try to force you to do anything. Think of it more as a United Nations of soccer supporters, providing a structure that lets us all work together to promote supporters' culture in this country.

I hope the San Jose supporters groups will join in and contribute; just head to soccersupporters.org and look around or pm me for details.

Legal pyrotechnics? Do they even exist?

Smoke bombs are legal in many states, although still banned from many stadiums.

Define smoke bomb. The pyrotechnics laws in California are not that specific. Out here, you need to have a license for pretty much anything.

Only if you light it, in your section. Executed in the general direction of the opposing supporters' section, it is deserving of reward.
