I live in Arlington and I have cable TV through AT&T, which is now Comcast. I paid $75 for the MLS Shootout package at the begining of the season. I received all the games for the first two weeks. Then the broadcast went black for the Burn-United game, the Saturday of the Burn-Wizards game, and now tonight (Wed) the Wiz-Rev game. Every time I talk with a Comcast rep, after a mighty long time on hold, they tell me there is a problem at the source of transmission. They promise that the problem will be solved later tonight (Wed) Does anyone else here subscribe to the Shootout Package through Comcast? And have any of you experienced problems? If I have no games this Sat I'm switching to the Dish!!!
yep I have missed a few games this year with Cox In Demand shootout..it's random and you never know what game it's going to be...
Have InDemand with Cox and I haven't missed a thing. That said, I'm getting a satellite as soon as I can.
Damn, the shootout package is $49 on every other system I've heard of. Where do they get off charging $75?
I get it thru Time Warner and have had missed games with the same excuse given. I got the entire Burn v United game, but I believe last weeks Wiz v Burn game was avialable only on HDTV and was not part of the package. $75 is the suggested retail price - but cable companies can charge more if they want to. My suggestion is to keep calling them and stay of top of it. I still hold my breath before each game hoping it comes on without a hitch. And if it doesn't - I start dialing.
Sorry about that misprint. I did pay $49 here in Arlington, TX. So Cox has missed some games in the DC area but no problems in Baton Rouge. Anyone else having trouble with inDemand on cable? How reliable are DirecTV and Dish Network? Final sidenote - the reps I spoke with have been VERY polite, just powerless to help. One guy, Brian at ext#4158, is a hardcore Burn fan and I hope he can slip away from his night job and make it to some live games this season.
That was my same experiance with when it was ATT two seasons ago. I got DirectTV last season and didn't miss a game due to technical difficulties then or so far this season. ATT (now Comcast) grew by aquisition and continue to experiance technical problems because of the various systems they operate. Direct and Dish run a single system nation wide and seem to do a much better job technically.
If it gets very cloudy when you're about to grab a handfull of popcorn as the first half whistle blows, don't be surprised if you have to bring out the vacuum cleaner. And if you throw popcorn as-well-as-you yell, Orville Redenbacher may sue!
Sounds like they still have not fixed the "teenager protection system." Short answer- tell them to reset your box. reason is that the package trips a counter or a meter or whatever you want to call it, and it stops the ability to get ppv after a certain number of events. It prevents your teenager from going nuts on ppv. So, when you've had five or six games, the set stops transmission cause it thinks you have asked for too many events in a short time. it's been that way with Digital cable since year one, and they have never fixed it. Last I was there, you could get your box reset via phone, not deal with a droid, and at least get it back on. Worked 90 percent of the time (I used to live in Grand Praire, that's how I know). Try that, see if that does the trick. And ask for 15 bucks back since you missed games you intended to tape, and it was their equipment's fault. good luck
Thanks V64, We tried the reset on 2 different occasions over the last week to no avail. BUT inDemand was working yesterday (Sat) So I'm about to settle in for a quiet, calm Sun morning review of last nights game. Right. Hopefully this thread won't have to resurface this season, but if Comcast/ inDemand chokes again...
I had the exact same problems with Time Warner in El Paso. They finally refunded all my money after I missed over half the matches.
