Today...this season...Sigurdsson is a better player than Baka and will have more impact.

Bigger picture, 40m no f'ing way.

Looks like we offered him a £60K a week deal in wages but he wants first team football and apparently has a clause in his contract that he can move for a £6M fee this summer. More then likely we will sign him to an extension and loan him to either Swansea or Watford and then sell him next year.

Sad, I had high hopes for him and RLC and Nathan Ake but I don't see RLC or Chalobah making it here. If the club wants the youth program to actually bring in players to the first team then they have to actually give 1-2 players each year a chance. Nathan Ake this year should have gotten a chance, we shouldn't have bothered looking for a LWB and went into the season with Ake / Alonso for the LWB position.

I think the club got too excited with how easy it is to bring in a youth player for £1M, loan him for 2 seasons, then sell him for £8M and boast about the profits. I want to see a youth player make it to the XI. Really frustrated by this policy.

Sigurdsson is a very good player..

Last season he finished with 9 goals and 13 assists on a Swansea team that finished 15th and only scored 45 goals. He was involved in 49% of Swansea's goals last season.

Look at someone like Christian Eriksen, he finished with 8 goals and 15 assist, on a team that scored 86 goals, he was involved in 26% of Spurs goals last season.

Sigurdsson is a very good player and if he was on a better team I feel like he would continue to produce the goods. He would be a great signing for an Everton team who look to be shaping up to be a solid solid team next season under Koeman.

He struggled to produce the goods on the Spurs when he was with them...

He's 28, and nearly all his goals/assists were on set pieces. He also took penalties. He also played every game, so his per game stats are inflated. Over 40M pounds for him is NUTS.

He just signed a new contract last August with a view to inflate his asking price. Well done by Swansea.

He did play the entire season but even if you look back at the last 3 seasons, his stats are very impressive for a team that has been very poor. From the matches that I've watched him play for the most part he looked to be a very good player and showed up very well in some big matches. I think he will be a very good signing. I wouldn't be surprised if Everton stay very close to the top 6.

Gyldi is class. not elite, but class. his game has never been speed, he's got more than a few good years left in him. everton are quietly (not really that quietly) building a good squad. they may even give someone in top 5 a push if things click.

so some details about Morata have emerged. He apparently decided already to stay at Madrid and fight for his place, and turned down a lurcrative wage at Utd to do so. my guess is as soon as Utd got wind of this they went full speed on Lukaku knowing that there was essentially one option left between chelsea and utd. Lukaku says he'd already made up his mind but my guess is the Morata deal fell through before Utd reciprocated that. or that Lukaku at least wanted to wait and see what happened and stalled on Chelsea.

so, i'm going to assume that Morata is off the table, unless something changes in pre-season and he's given a clear indication that he's got no chance being number 1 at Madrid, at which point, we should already have made our move (i'd like to think). so full steam ahead on Aubamayang for me i guess.

Anything that comes out of Spain I take with a grain of salt. I think if Morata had 2-3 clear offers on the table earlier that Madrid would have accepted, then he would have already moved. I think the fact that Madrid put such a high fee on him coupled with the fact that I don't think they are getting Mbappe this summer, will end up with him staying.

Its a WC year, a big money move to United or Chelsea would have been much more risky for him then staying at Madrid one more year and being able to play with less pressure because he is not the main striker on the team.

Basically, if you want someone who will take set pieces and free kicks and doesn't defend, he's a decent player. He actually offers a lot less than you think from free play and again, he's already 28. By this age, players start to decline.

He will be 28 in September.

I think he is a very good player and would fit in very nicely for Everton and like you have mentioned, he is a set piece and free kick specialist, he can be extremely productive for them for the next 4-5 years and his age shouldn't be a big concern because he does not rely on speed or physical ability to contribute.

    Arman is right re Morata.

He would have been at United if RM accepted the €60m bid

He may be right but no. Real wanted more than 60. If Manu offered the 75 they did for Lukaku he'd most likely be there even tho they seem intent on getting 80. It's all about money.

This came out today showing Morata buzzed his hair after dying it Red. They are speculating that he had dyed his hair for his unveiling with United.

that's.....hilarious. though does that mean he's still on the market for the right price? why did it fall through with Utd? if they wanted him, surely they could have paid the money instead of going for another option with Lukaku and paying the same. we need to get a move on with the striker thing.

I'm not sure that United bid over £60M. If they were close, they would have made the deal done. They have the cash and if he was Jose's #1 target, I don't think Jose would say no for an extra £5-10M.

Either they bid well under the £80M that Madrid wanted, or Lukaku was their first choice but wanted to come to us until Pogba and his Agent swayed him to United which made them end the Morata pursuit.
