Apparently we've opened bidding for Allisson. 60m. The CL underlined the need for a top keeper, but that price (surely to skyrocket) is insanity and we won't pay it. Courtois surely on his way out. United have signed Fred, Liverpool Fabinho. Rivals getting stronger.
Lichtsteiner and Sokratis joining Arsenal. Wolves signing right back Cancelo for 35m? Holy crap. He's a pretty good player. United also signing youngster Diogo Dalot from Porto. Right back.

we've been linked to a lot of really good and interesting players. we'll sign none of them. or at least i'm preparing myself to not get interested until we actually do make some moves.
You guys are missing the point about our transfer strategy in a World Cup year. We will have targets identified that are good, under-the-radar players, but we will wait for after the world cup (when they have a strong tournament and their transfer fee triples) before we make our move. Why on earth would we do business early when it makes sense financially? PS With no DoF and ongoing managerial uncertainty, I have no doubt that we will be signing below average players during the last hour of the transfer window and not a minute before.
This is classic. Our 2014 summer window was very good, signing some quality players before/during the World Cup. Costa, Fabregas, Luis, Remy, and Drogs 2.0 all came in that window.
I hate to rain on the rainy day parade here but... we made money the last world cup year while signing Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas. We then went on to win the league.. so it all made perfect sense financially.
I posit this is our current strategy in a World Cup year. That we would have taken the lessons of past World Cup years and unlearned the positives
Haha.. I mean 2010 wassss a whole other story. For all the pessimism surrounding the board now, the (lack of) transfers that summer shaped the rest of the decade for us imho.
at the end of the day we have a bad track record of not moving while we are in a position of strength and then scrambling when we are in a weak position. it's a hilariously dumb cycle. the fact that in that time we've won two titles is kind of an anomaly in my opinion.
Once in the last few years we did well in the market with our greatest ever manager. Every other window had been a calamity of errors. Once in the outlier here.
And for the record, I don't like Mourinho. While we had a good window, we did sell a host of our most talented youth players later that year so there's that too. Mourinho was given a lot of power when he came back. It showed in thst second window.
Pool agree Fekir. They are going to be a fun side to watch next year. I feel the club has given up on competing like the rest of us.
Looks like their going to go after shaqiri next who will make a cheap great depth move for them. They need a GK and CB badly tho.
