Check out this video of the starting lineups from the 1996 MLS all-star game - pretty insteresting. The first thing that strikes me is look at the size of that crowd. Where they really all there for the all-star game, or was it a double-header featuring a Latin American national team or something like that? Anyone remember, or did anyone here actually go to the game?

It seemed to me that the best reception was for Cienfuegos, Donadoni and Alvarez.

The only Americans that got more cheers than boos were Meola, Lalas, Jones and Wynalda.

The doubleheader was Brazil - Fifa World Stars.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- A crowd of 78,416 turned out at Giants Stadium on July 14, 1996, to see a rare doubleheader. In the first-ever Major League Soccer All-Star Game, the Eastern Conference defeated the Western Conference 3-2.

In the following exhibition, Brazil's Olympic team -- featuring budding superstar Ronaldo -- defeated the FIFA World Stars 2-1.
