No. It’s basically the Furman of North Carolina. Except for its medical school, Bowman Gray. I don’t think Furman has that. Furman’s campus is lovely. Unless things have changed, Charleston is great, and Greenville is nice, but the rest of the state is a complete shithole. When I visited Columbia ca. 1990 a couple of times for research, it felt like those Eastern NC cities that relied on the tobacco business, and faded to dusty nothingness when tobacco went away. And that was the state capital, home of the state’s “flagship” college!
Yall let me know if this works Close your eyes. Gently move your pupils sideways. Then try to countdown from 100 to 1 slowly. I always fall asleep around 80 max. It has never failed to get me sleep. https://t.co/q0siVaIXaj— Left Lt. (@Google_12point7) February 17, 2026

This photo deserves a Pulitzer because it shows Federal agents shooting the Pastor of the First Presbyterian church in Chicago with rubber bullets in the head and spraying him with tear gas in the face when he was just there to pray with everyone! pic.twitter.com/oKOvnfxNjZ— Suzie rizzio (@Suzierizzo1) February 17, 2026

So...they're about free thinking, open minds, etc. Why do I have the feeling they'd be hostile towards non-binary people who use gender-neutral pronouns? But they're "free thinkers!"

"Real IDs" can be distinguished by the yellow star. The irony has been noted by almost everyone who ever got one, I think Back about 1960 when the proposal to issue everyone born a Social Security number was floated, right wingers all over the country were outraged because it might provide a way to keep track of everybody if an authoritarian government ever took over... As the Brown's Ferry Four once sang: "And here we are and here we be, Alton, Rabon, Stringbean and me.*" *Grandpa Jones; Alton and Rabon were the Delmore Brothers...
Property is theft. There's no ethical consumption under capitalism. I like my TV and phone but I recognize that they didn't magically appear out of nowhere. I'm a participant in the very system that oppresses me and billions of others, and leads to the aggregating of power that allows Epsteins and Thiels and Musks and Trumps to exist.
The only valid realids for this purpose (proof of citizenship for voting) are the enhanced ones that are equivalent to a passport card that you can only get in a few northern border states. Those ones have a flag icon, not a gold star. You can get a regular realid without being s citizen., it is not proof of citizenship.
So exempt crimes against personal property from that calculation. EDIT: I'm not advocating for vandalism of public property, just opining that it isn't a great evil meriting much if any consternation.
Voting rights rhetoric needs to do some ju-jitsu on the Voter ID thing and start pushing hard for mandatory photo IDs for all Americans.
