Wake Forest is a very, very strange one. It’s not really a top tier university. I mean, it’s a fine school and all, but not a Duke or Northwestern. IM not aware of any of its graduate programs that are controversial, or influential. It used to be closely tied to the Baptist church but as politicians took over that denomination in North Carolina, and Baptists started trying to dictate that Wake follow Republican academic principles*, Wake realized they had to get a divorce. So maybe it’s revenge served very, very cold?

*is this a contradiction in terms, or an oxymoron, or are those the same thing?
