1. That’s awesome. 2. Why do people type G_D instead of God? I’m sure it means something but I do t know what.
Jews tend to do that. So as to prevent the blasphemy that could occur should the word be erased by a blasphemer or some such.
Close. It has to do with the destruction of God's holy name. Jews have seven (?) names for God, and God is the least important. So in casual conversation, especially in America, they write G-d. Also, if said piece of paper has any of God's names written on it, that piece of paper is holy and you cannot toss it in the trash. I have two close Jewish friends who don't trust me to preserve the document, ie a birthday card, so they write G-d.

Unfortunately we have just had a customer in to complain about the terrible landscaping job we have done on their garden (photo attached). Luckily we told them that the DOW was over 50,000 right now, so they left with their tail between their legs. pic.twitter.com/KRLkQGko1L— Four Seasons Total Landscaping (@TotalSeasons) February 12, 2026
I used to work with someone who had a heavy metal DJ gig on the college radio station. She went to Seton Hall, which is a Catholic university, and while there is a band called "Lamb of God," the could only refer to it as "Lamb of G." I was also under the impression that using G-D or Y*W*H was more of a Jewish thing, but I remember there was a promo McDonalds did for the World Cup where the burger wrappers had all the flags of the participating countries. The only problem was, the Saudi flag has writing on it, and "Allah" is in there somewhere. And you can't throw a wrapper in the garbage like that. I think they just made it a green flag
Yesterday, DHS used a high energy laser, loaned to them by Pete Hegseth, to shoot down a party balloon, causing the FAA to shut down air space over El Paso. Just a day later, we have two Navy ships colliding. Thank you, Pete Hegseth, for exceeding our expectations. https://t.co/6PXuovFV0t— Turnbull (@cturnbull1968) February 12, 2026

Btw, Gallup’s last report of Trump’s approval rating was among the lowest rating for President ever recorded in its history. Now, after 88 years, they’re not measuring it anymore.Nothing suspicious going on here I’m sure. https://t.co/0bZU4tifbH— Melat Kiros for Congress, CO-1 (@MelatKirosCO) February 11, 2026

"Newly discovered evidence is materially inconsistent with the allegations in the Complaint Affidavit" is the government saying "We totally lied in our court filing." https://t.co/teLYzbx32F— James Surowiecki (@JamesSurowiecki) February 13, 2026 At this point, ICE/CBP and DHS have lied so often - including in court and in affidavits - that the default assumption about any account they give of an incident should be that they are not telling the truth.— James Surowiecki (@JamesSurowiecki) February 13, 2026 But really, outside of a small handful of Rubios, isn’t this true of every part of this administration? What they say and what is true has no correlation.

I wouldn't be surprised if he was doing stuff. I saw his magic act, I think three times. I won't say how he flew on stage, but it was a very good trick. I think I saw the one that got him in legal trouble when one of the "random volunteers" got hurt. From what I understand, the vast majority of "random" volunteers aren't. I once had it explained to me that when they throw the balls in the audience to try to find random people, they actually use Spoiler (Move your mouse to the spoiler area to reveal the content) Show Spoiler Hide Spoiler some sort of magnetic doohickey in the volunteers hands to draw the balls closer. A lot of magic is basic "look here as I do *this* over here* distraction stuff. It's still good. David Blaine has a series on Hulu and Disney+ FWIW.
An old college friend teaches at a conservative Jewish school (he's not Jewish--nor religious--himself) and all of his students write G_d in papers, etc. He told me that despite being an atheist himself, he appreciates the reasoning behind the practice.
You’re no fun! Your link is behind a paywall, but I do appreciate that you lit a candle in the darkness of These Times.
The Immigration to incarceration pipeline needs ICE to ramp up things!!! Private prisons are criticizing ICE on their investor calls for not filling up their prisons fast enough.Your reminder that ICE is a for-profit industry — and the companies profiting are big campaign donors to the politicians voting to fund them. https://t.co/HJEgBO4EnR— Melanie D'Arrigo (@DarrigoMelanie) February 13, 2026 How long before they send legal residents and citizens?
