I've been told this tweet is real.

 

The tweet is probably real, but I have doubts about the quote therein.

 

I have no doubts about the twelve farts. Anyone with a shambolic excuse for a "diet" is going to have terrible gas.

 

My point was, I doubt an oil exec said it to a reporter.

But if it’s real, if that reporter has it on tape, s/he could put it out there and monetize it and retire from journalism.

 

I wish people would pay more attention to videos like this one because it is f-cking insane on a number of different levels. A minute and a half of fascist police state operating 101.

- She doesn't need to have an ID to walk on the sidewalk.

- She was harassed only because of how she looks.

- She doesn't have to answer where she was born or get detained.

My wife is a naturalized citizen. I'm trying to determine some kind of operating plan for these kinds of situations for if and when they decide to ratchet up their efforts again in Nashville. Every body that deals with him is under pressure both ways; they are all standing around hoping someone else will do something about it, but the only people who could-- the House or the Cabinet are not prepared to take the responsibility.

In such a situation it should not be surprising that people talk out of school, however softly. If they can elevate the pressure on the Cabinet and Republican Congressmen and Senators it will push them toward the tipping point where they will bite the bullet and do their duty-- and relieve the pressure on everybody else. The risk to the talker is smaller than the distance to the evil consequences for everybody.

 

You still have faith on the Senate, or on those that go to meetings knowing they have to kiss the ring? I doubt enough Republicans in the Senate will have the courage to take action, and I have even less faith on the Cabinet. And to get involved in a tangential discussion, I even doubt that the military is willing to stop him and it seems they will keep following orders, even if they're questionable or straight up unconstitutional.

 

I don't. He just came from a meeting where he knew he had no interest in whatever Venezuelan pipe dream Trump was selling.

I doubt any of the oil execs in that room wanted to be there since they all know what a stupid thing this Venezuelan adventure is.

 

As someone born in the United States and looking Hispanic, this is the first time in my life where I have considered having my passport as well as my wallet (driver's license) whenever I go out, even for small things.

In the first Trump admin, I told a story on this board of the wife and I visiting her side of the family in Wisconsin. I brought my passport and family members asked why. Basically I told them I was Hispanic and could audibly see some of them short-circuiting. I can't remember who (Vstyles or VFish) thought I was being over the top and we got into it over a few pages, telling me how I should react to blatant racist stereotypes.

Now these types of interactions with federal agents are normal..... Also, I really want to go back and find that conversation, @ them, and drag their a$$
