Local sources are giving it pretty poor odds in the Indiana Senate. They don't have a good relationship with the governor and don't like having several districts divvying up Indy because that increases the odds that s bunch of "citified millionaires" will take over the state Republican party again after they've just spent decades shifting the center of gravity to the rural areas. Even if they got more seats they would get more socially moderate and farmers would lose influence.
This speech would be acceptable if was delivered like it was supposed to, by a man on a busy city street corner, yelling it to pedestrians and others who are ignoring him.
Lifetime judicial appointments is one of the flaws in America’s operating system. I can tell you that in the olden days, people would serve in office then resign then serve in a different office then resign then go back to their first position. Point is, none of these jobs that are careers now were careers then. All judges should have something like 10 year appointments. Judge Emil Bove is at President Trump’s Pennsylvania event tonight—an unusual move for a federal judge. When asked by MS NOW off camera why he is here, he responded: “Just here as a citizen coming to watch the president speak.” pic.twitter.com/xmLDt0pBRR— Vaughn Hillyard (@VaughnHillyard) December 9, 2025
Kinda gotta hand it to MAGA. They aren't about to let statistics, real-world evidence, forensic evidence, eyewitness testimony, police reports, sworn affidavits, economic data, basic scientific laws, or reality get in the way of whatever ridiculous bullshit they want to believe.— Conspiratorial Templates (@mynamehear) December 11, 2025
Ohio has begun purging rolls, which I'm not entirely opposed to...after several steps have been taken. I think you need to miss 3-4 consecutive elections before a postcard is sent. "Hey! We see you haven't voted in a while. If you don't vote in the next election, you must re-register." Of course, you don't need to vote for all options/races for the ballot to count. If the only thing you care about is school taxes, but don't give a crap about anything else, that counts. In situations where it's "Vote for no more than X" and it's that many people running, I don't usually vote. If it's uncontested, I also don't see the point of voting there. I'm in a blue area, but there's also money and I also know my experience doesn't match all. Still, I go in to my polling place and there's something like 10-20 machines and maybe 3-4 people voting. Of course, we also have a nice long early voting period and voting by mail which helps.
And all it took was a made up FIFA Peace Prize. https://t.co/bgymAc3p0U— Melanie D'Arrigo (@DarrigoMelanie) December 11, 2025
I’m being completely sincere here…Cassidy is one of the best Republican senators. In different circumstances, he’s a guy we could work with. Maybe he’s doing the best he can. The average cost of giving birth without insurance is $18,865.Cancer patients spend an average of $150,000 on treatment.Insurance plans cost $4400 - $14000 per year.Giving people $1,000 per year towards healthcare and saying “good luck!” isn’t a healthcare solution. https://t.co/OVjjK9ZSoA— Melanie D'Arrigo (@DarrigoMelanie) December 11, 2025
Trump is, in fact, mentally unstable and deranged. So too is anyone unable to recognize that. Those who just ignore the facts are sociopaths interested only in position, power, and profit. https://t.co/HTiAjhrFsA— Jeff Timmer (@jefftimmer) December 10, 2025
Tar Heel!!! This is not really surprising. There's no plausible legal or constitutional authority under which the president can summarily execute alleged cocaine smugglers. It just doesn't matter, since neither Congress nor SCOTUS will even try to stop him from doing so. pic.twitter.com/JuOCPETNMg— James Surowiecki (@JamesSurowiecki) December 10, 2025
If an army of doctors kept asking me to retake dementia screening tests every few months, I'd probably keep that to myself.— Patrick S. Tomlinson (@stealthygeek) December 10, 2025
This is horrible. The only solution I can think of is to do pull-ups in an airport. https://t.co/ImUsyT1hqb— Goad Gatsby (@GoadGatsby) December 11, 2025
Forget the cost of weapons to Ukraine, how many scooters have our tax dollars paid for because MAGAs got too fat to go to Wal-Mart unassisted? pic.twitter.com/uKgKYRAQtq— TheRealThelmaJohnson (@TheRealThelmaJ1) December 9, 2025
I've never quite understood the issue with this stuff. In Massachusetts every town and city is required to have an annual census, and that is used to remove people from rolls over time. Of course we also have really aggressive forms of "motor voter" so pretty much every time you provide your address to the state you can register to vote or update your registration. I assume that other states have something inherently partisan about their systems for doing it or don't do it on a regular basis or something in a way that makes it unfair?
Our tax dollars at work Franklin is helping write the next chapter of America. You can too! We’re looking for patriotic legal professionals to serve as Deportation Judges. Your work will have generational consequences.Apply today!https://t.co/hLJZoubvzB pic.twitter.com/IuYLfLfYEU— U.S. Department of Justice (@TheJusticeDept) December 11, 2025
"Your work will have generational consequences" is probably a very honest assertion inasmuch as it doesn't specify what those consequences could be and who will have to face them.
Franklin the Turtle is Canadian. I mean, the people who wrote and illustrated the original books are Canadian. (I don't know if the character has a particular nationality, that's not really relevant to this point.) So there's, like, multiple levels to the Trump administration's dickishness here - they are trolling Canada by taking one of their beloved children's characters and using that character in their awful memes, they're daring the copyright owners to come after them in American courts so they can claim copyright law doesn't apply to foreign properties, shit like that.
The Canadian Government should post one titled "Franklin Becomes an Assassin for the Canadian Government" and show him with a sniper rifle and peering through the scope at a pumpkin.
Up is down, day is night. And giving in to a bully is brave, standing up to one is cowardice. We have a whole decade worth of kids being raised in an amoral environment. How much damage has been done? And it will persist in our system for the next 50 years. Lieutenant Governor Micah Beckwith’s Statement pic.twitter.com/msd4a8whP4— Lt. And here I thought it was that Sleepy Herod should have closed his borders to those camel jockeys, or at least charged a 100% tariff on their gold, frankincense and myrrh.
